Have a look here http://www.homebirth.org.uk/overdue.htm

And stick to your guns. Yes there is an increased risk of going over 42 weeks, but there is also an increased risk associated with induction. All you can do is weigh up the risks and benefits for you and your family and make the decision that is right for you. If you do go in for monitoring, try and take someone with you for some moral support as thay can really up the pressure - they don't like people that go against the norm.

Why cant anyone just see this from my point of view, i need this baby to come by herself NOW!!

Have convinced OH that induction is not a good idea, he did not realise there were risks involved as obv no one actually tells you of any risks involved you have to find out these things for yourself.

I wonder why they dont want to inform you of the risks of induction and why they seem so keen to go down that route rather than wait and do checks??
I mean if baby is ok and everything is working fine i just dont get the fuss??

I'm with you on this one. As much as I want to meet my baby already, he is doing well in there and in no distress so I worry about if I need to be induced. I was going to ask my doc the same thing about the gel if it comes to that. I mean why can't I get the gel in the office even and then go home and call when/if contractions are strong enough? I feel like if I go in for the induction they will try the gel, then try it again if it doesn't progress fast enough, then they'll start pitocin, then if things don't progress from there it's a c-section because god forbid you stay longer in the hospital and the insurance company pays for it... ugh! Well let us know now it pans out for you...

Glad you've convinced your OH, it is important to feel supported when you're going against the norm. Do you have anyone else you can take on monday that could support you?

Isnt full term 37-42 weeks anyway? so technically im not 'overdue' as 42 weeks will be tuesday, and im sure they dont get due dates dead on so why all the pressure for inducing, she has not even mentioned to me that i can be monitored instead.

Am i pushing it at 42 weeks do you think? sorry to go on but i need some courage to call midwife!!
yes she will! mine did anyway. stick to your guns though!!!

Luckily we dont have to worry about insurance company and such things in the uk, would make it 10 times more stressfull!!

Apparantly they dont like you to leave because once they have got involved if anything goes wrong they can be liable so they like to keep an eye on you, what i dont understand is if full term labour is between 37-42 weeks why all the pressure to labour at around 40 weeks and why are they so against monitoring baby after 42? if everything is ok then what is the rush.

Oh well... baby still not in a rush to come yet, maybe she will decide tonight is the night!! fingers crossed cause im dreading monday if she's still not here.
