Petrified at the thought of forceps

I was reading a thread about forceps, have seen how they can bruise and cut babys face and misshape the head and seen how they are used on tv.

They look horrendous, i wouldn't want c section or ventouse and if need be i would have to get it done for my baby. but i am perrifeid at the thought of forceps what it would do to me, the horrible experience of your baby being forcible pulled from you and the state they leave your baby and vagina in.

I am so scared now, esp as when it gets to the point you need it done theres no other choice to get your baby out safely

just upsets me thinking there is nothing to do to get your baby out when it gets to that point.

i nearly ended up having them the first time round but didnt know anything about them then.

I know the thought of forceps sounds scary, but my dd was pulled out with them and is perfectly fine. No marking or bruising. She was face up and too hard to push out. I know it is hard, but try not too worry about it too much. GL

I spoke to my midwife yesterday because I really don't want them and would rather opt for a section if they say forceps... She said I can do that.. She really made me feel different about my options.. She told me I make sure I ask what they want to use the forceps for (if they say thy want to turn the baby, I should opt for the section (this is cos I really dont want them) she also said if they say to get the baby out then to say I want the ventouse but ONLY I they can see the head, because then it won't be so much suction needed if thu can already see the head)

Sorry long, and it doesn't make sense! Hah.

That seems like really helpful advice! Good to know.
