Blood & glucose in urine?!

I had a home visit from the MW today to check my BP after it being high in the clinic the other day. Bloods and urine were fine after I got sent to ANDU in the hospital that day for monitoring, and always have been fine (apart from ONCE I had a TRACE of protein) up until now. Today it showed I had blood AND glucose in it, this has never happened before and the MW said it could be a one off so it's not too much of a worry, and there's no sign of protein... I've been given a pot to take a sample in tomorrow.

I'm 37+3 and just wondering what glucose could mean this far in, especially when I've not had it before, and if this has happened to anyone else? I do feel like I could be starting with/have a mild UTI so that could explain the blood in urine. It's the glucose that's got me...

hey hun not really too sure what it could mean but maybe its just a one off like your mw said! did you have much sugar over the last few days or anything that would contribute? if everything was fine all along and no protein etc its prob just a blip... hopefully your urine tomorrow will give you better results! xxxxxxx

Glucose is sugar. Sometimes we have excess in our urine from our diet. It may just be from what you ate or drank? Sounds like a one time thing but don't quote me. Maybe ask your mw?

The glucose in the urine is a sign of gestational diabetes I'm afraid - I've had that problem unfortunately. As far as the blood, I'm really not too sure. Could be an infection?

Forgot to mention, but if the glucose was a one time thing I wouldn't worry. I'd only worry if it has happened on more than one occasion.

Usually glucose in the urine is a sign of gestational diabetes, when blood sugar levels reach a certain point excess is spilled into your urine, normally the kidneys can filter it out.
It might just be a one off, do you have another midwife appointment soon?x
