Pregnancy-Induced Carpal Tunnel...So much pain

I just need to get this out!! Anyone else experiencing this?

This started about 3 weeks ago with just my fingers going numb. Now they are numb 24/7 but what is worse is the bone-chilling pain that radiates from my thumb all the way up to my elbow. It wakes me up 3-4 times a night almost in tears. In the mornings I cannot grip or hold anything, not even a fork.

The doctor said it is normal in pregnancy and there is nothing they can do. I am wearing a wrist brace but that sometimes makes it worse. I started going to the chiropractor last week to see if they could help but no luck yet. I am no sure I can make it 9 more weeks!!!!!

You and me both! I have been trawling the net to find some sort of exercise that could help and I have come across this lil video. I don't know if it well help or make things worse but at this point I am willing to try anything. The splint I am wearing only helps a lil cause I am convinced that lying on my arm is what is causing the most pain. I have it in both hands but it is much worse in the left. Usually lying on my right side with my left arm propped up in front of me on a soft pillow (OH's ) is the only way I can bear it and I can get some sleep. Of course my hip then starts hurting and I am forced to turn to the left but that is another problem. I am glad I am going to get a csection soon cause I do hope it will go away soon after. If not I will get that injection. It is unbearable as is and I don't think I want to be brave much longer! I hope you get some relief from your chiro after all and that you feel better soon. xxx

I've had this for about 5 weeks now. My fingers in both hands are totally numb, to the point where last week I couldn't hold a knife and fork. The only thing I can say is I've kind of got used to it. I'd wake up really stressed With the sensations in my hands but I've kind of just accepted it now. Nothing I do makes any difference...just got to wait for baby to come out so it will go away.

I usually get this and i did have some symptoms numbs hands in the morning and annoying tingling for ages. Then i saw a consultant about previous pre-eclamsia and they put me on a small dose Asprin as a preventative. Its fairly new treatment i believe I dunno if this is why but as a side note the numbness has gone from my hands. I just get the odd tingle now. I guess if it thins the blood slightly it would make sense. Talk to your doctor you never know they might think it worth a try. I will be mentioning it to consultant next time i see them i think its a great side effect.

I feel your pain, it started off with just numbness and tingling - worse after a good nights sleep, seems the more times i get up in the night for a wee the better it is, i assume because i wake and have to move/shake out my hands and was unable to grip anything. my hands are very swollen, cant cross my fingers or form a tight fist. Now i have pain and tenderness on the wrist bone near the thumb, my midwife has advised me not to lift anything heavy or hot cos my wrists are quite weak and can give way.... get this baby out of me lol!!!

OMG THE PAIN IS HORRIFIC!! I've had this for over a month now. I can't use my right hand almost at all, and my left one is slowly getting worse. I would really be enjoying my pregnancy without this horrible side effect. I use an icepack to sooth the pain and a splint but nothing really helps... xx

It's nice to know I am not the only one. Thank you. Today has been the worst. I cannot hold a pencil and write or type with my right hand which is awful because there is a lot of typing with my job. Right now I am slowly typing with my left hand!

It is 4:30am and I cannot sleep. The pain is constant tonight. I called the dr today. She said there is nothing she can do.

Have you had a look at the link I posted with the video of the exercises? Maybe try and see if some of the stretching could give some relief? I really feel for you! I have hardly any feeling in my right hand now too and in my left only my pinky has any feeling at all. Oh and I also have trigger finger in my right hand for both middle fingers. It is a joy- not! Anyone else get that too?

I got it in my first pregnancy just as u describe. I got sent for ultrasound treatment on it but that didnt work, splints but like u said seemed to make it more painful so i tried reflexology. It didnt make it go away but it did make it 80% less painful. I was really scared about getting it again this time but so far so good!

Oh dear, I've just started getting numbness in my hands sometimes at night, and tingling a little during the day. Reading this has me very worried that it will get worse!
