Do hiccups count as baby movement?

I've been a bit concerned about reduced fetal movement lately, and I was wondering if hiccups count as movement when I'm doing my movement counts?

I feel completely ridiculous asking....but thought I'd swallow my pride and ask anyway!!

It's not that I don't feel ANY movement....it's just reduced...

I think they do as when I had to go on the baby heartbeat monitor at the hospital I also had to press a button everytime I felt movement and when baby had the hiccups they told me to keep pressing everytime!

hope this helps a little

i would think they wouldn't, as a hiccup isn't a movement that bubs can control.. whereas if he or she is kicking and punching away, you know they're active in there.

but i don't know for sure, that's just what i'd assume.

We get them at least once, maybe twice every day! i asked the m/w about this and she said it just means they will be more likely to get them when born as well?? I hope not!

When I was hooked up the monitor at the hospital they told me to click the button everytime baby moved as well as hiccuped!
I swear I feel more hiccups then movements!! I timed it yesterday and the baby had hiccups for almost 3 hours out of the day and that was a quiet day!

When I went into be monitored before I got induced I was told not to count hiccups when counting movements, it also said that it doesn't count as a movement on all the leaflets they gave me. If you are worried abotu movements call your midwife and they may tell you to go in to be monitored, best to put your mind at rest.
