Thanks hun
I've had strong movements for a few weeks now, but lately she's had a few lazy days.
Only natural to worry I suppose!
Your display picture is adorable btw!

It's interesting to read that hospitals are supposed to send you for a scan after you've been in more than twice for reduced movements.
I don't know if this is a more recent thing but i went about 4 times from about 30ish weeks onwards with reduced movements in my first pregnancy and was only ever hooked up to a monitoring machine. They knew from my notes that it had happened this many times but no MW ever sent me for a scan!

Obviously my LO was fine but i would hope that this time if i had to be monitored as many times as last time that i would be sent for a scan to make sure everything is fine (touch wood i won't need to go in at all - this baby seems to move a lot more than my little boy did!)

Threads like this worry me. Having a doppler is fine, listening into the fetal heart is fine. BUT when untrained ladies use a doppler trying to determine the wellbeing of the baby, I worry. Please don't rely on the assumption that because the heart rate is 140, therefore between 110-160, everything is fine. There is more to it that what the baseline rate is. It scares me to think that there are people out there advising that as long as the fetal heart is between 110-160 etc then its ok.

There is too much emphasis on the fetal heart these days and I have lost count how many times I hear women say, oh I checked it at home with a doppler it was 150, so no worries. :0

It has to be known that firstly the fetal heart will run at a baseline, and even when a baby is poorly, i.e. needing urgent delivery you will still hear the heart rate on CTGs stick to its baseline. There is more to it then the rate at which the fetal heart is beating at.

When a baby is unwell in utero, the baby will show signs in reduction of movements before any signs in the fetal heart. Movements are so important, I can't stress this enough.

In fact if the fetal heart ran along a baseline of 155bpm, for example, with no change, i.e. not variable, I would be worried, its not about the number. Yet people focus on the magic number of beats per minute.

Sorry but I have experienced too many women relying on what their untrained ears are telling them rather than concentrating on movements.

Think about it, there are women who have CTGs that look normal. But are delivered quickly or induced promptly based on having persistent reduced movements. Yet there are women who have active babies, these CTGs can have decelerations, far from perfect traces but there is time to induce etc. Movements are so important, they tell the real story. However, with any case its about the bigger picture.
