Polyhydramnios AKA too much amniotic fluid

I went in for my growth scan at 35wk4d and they measured baby to be a big boy! Eeekk...but ok. They said he's 6lbs even...and that I will probably have an 8 pounder... makes me nervous...but ok!

What really scared me was they said that my amniotic fluid was measuring at 21cm. Too much of it I guess. My midwife didn't seem too concerned but is having me do weekly non stress tests. Then I came home and read a bunch of scary stuff about polyhydramnios on the internet. Now I'm kinda terrified.

Have any of you ladies experienced this before? How did things turn out? Please share!

Thanks!!

Not sure about that but did just want to say the measurements arent something you should really worry about. My doc don't even do them because he feels they are so inaccurate. My sister had one and they told her a 9-10 lb baby and she ended up with a 6 lb and a friend of mine was told she would have a smaller baby this time, 6-7 pound and hers was over 9.5 lbs. Just a little something so maybe you wont worry so much about a big baby, lol. I know, I worry about this one being bigger too sense I am huge compared to my last. As far as the fluid...I was the same way for awhile. Too much fluid too but the doc kept a eye on it and nothing ever came of it. That could also be why you are measuring bigger too.
Good luck to you. Hope you end up having a happy healthy medium weight baby

Midwife thinks I've got this as I'm measuring big, although they're testing for GD first.

DH's cousin's wife had polyhydramos and her baby was born with Trisomy 18, so I'm now terrified about that, although trying to stay rational about it as the chances of it happening are very, very, unlikely and it's more than likely that there's nothing to be worried about and it's just one of those things. Her baby had other markers, though, hole in the heart, skull wasn't properly developed etc.

P.s defo stop googling!

Sorry that's not a positive story and probably just causing more worry. I'm sure someone will be along with something more sensible to say soon!

I have been told in the past i have a lot of amniotic fluid but nothing was more than that about it. Both babies were basically healthy with a little jaundice at birth. I am already measuring big 3 weeks ahead 3 weeks ago now 2 weeks ahead apparently. Not worried at all everyone is different. Babies were 8lb1 and 8lb 7 and i am 5ft 3inches now and was 6lb something at birth.
