Growth Scan

Good morning everyone, so I went for a presentation scan on friday as the midwife was convinced that baby was breech and am very happy that he is head down, but one one thing that did come up was his measurements and, he is measuring just under 10th percentile but what I am wondering is if they even measured him properly as looking at the scan results he is:
BPD - 50
HC looks to be around 35, same with AC
but then his FL seems to be around 10 - 15

they worked him out to be around 5lb at 35 weeks + 6 so have to go back for a repeat scan.

What I don't understand is how his legs can be so small compared to the rest of his body, the MW measurements have been fine since she started measuring, just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them.

Can't help with the growth stuff I'm afraid - but congrats that your baby is safely head down! I would raise any concerns you have about LO's size at the next scan, or sooner with your MW if it's really worrying you xxx

I had this problem on Friday. I went at 36 +2 for my placenta scan due to placenta praevia, and they do perform a growth scan at the same time.

My fundal height measurements have been consistently over the the 90th percentile for the last 3 measurements, however on scan they said babies measurements and weight were estimated at 4lb 13oz, or 2217g, well below the 10th percentile.

I was then told baby would be making an appearence at 37 weeks instead of the planned 39 by c section and had one steroid shot Friday and a second shot saturday morning.

The midwife on delivery ward that gave me my second shot Saturday seemed to say baby had just stopped growing a few weeks ago.

Its so scary that if it was not for the placenta, I would not have even got a growth scan due to fundal measurements being so high but following the growth curve. I could have had some serious problems between 36 and 39 weeks otherwise. I just hope his organs are all working and he is just a little on the small side for his gestational age.

Thanks you to both of you for replying and good luck with your c section, hope everything is ok.
I am back again next friday but I am at the midwifes tomorrow, it's just so confusing the difference in his leg size compared to the rest of his body, I think he is still growing as my bump has been getting bigger over the last couple of weeks and everything else seems to be ok.
My first son was born via c section at 38+6 weighing 6lb4 and he was completely healthy no problems at all so am hoping its either a case of she measured his leg size wrong or I just have small babies.

Hi hun, i went for a presentation scan at 36+1 because my baby is breech and whilst there they did a growth scan, my babies head and abdominal measurements were around the 50th percentile but her femur was around the 5-10th! She was estimated to weigh about 5lbs 2 ounces. I was quite concerned but the nurse said nothing and when i spoke to my friend who is a midwife she said if they had any concerns at all they wouldnt have let me go home and would have booked me in for another growth scan. I am booked in for a c section at 39+1 due to baby being breech and i estimate she will weigh about 6lbs 5 ounces so will just see. When i looked in my pregnancy book the average weight around 36 weeks is 5lbs 2 so that put me at ease but each and every baby is different, am sure all is well chick xx

Hi, I got a growth scan done at 28+2, so I know it's a lot earlier than yours but thought it might put your mind at rest a little as FL measured a lot lower than the others. But baby is perfectly healthy and above average weight...

est weight 2lb 10oz
BPD: 58.4%
AC: 48.1%
FL: 18.6%

And on the plot graph he averaged bang right in the middle of the upper and lower percentiles.

I am not exactly the same but I had a scan at 36 + 1 to make sure the Placenta had moved up.

They didn't actually do her FL so I don't know but her head was measuring 2 weeks behind which puts it about the 10th percentile.

Do you or your DH have short legs? I have read quite a few things but I am hoping it is just genetic and she will be fine, hopefully it will be the same for you hun.
