I would suggest you read the sticky at the top of third tri all about obstetric cholestasis just to rule it out first! X

I got told that if i get itching then to contact MW ASAP as its something to do with your liver not working properly, or something like that. There is a paragraph about it in my maternity notes x

I've had trouble with itching too - my doc recommended Aveeno lotion, which has helped loads. I tried e45 but it didn't help at all. I also had a blood test to make sure it wasn't to do with my liver not functioning like it should, but the doctor said it was unlikely to be that for me as I don't have a rash and my hands don't itch, just my tummy, chest, and the tops of my arms and legs. I think it might be my skin stretching. It's sooo frustrating! Good luck! xx

It's probably PUPPP. Def talk to your midwife though to rule out the more serios condition. I had PUPPP diagnosed after a blood get to rule out the liver problems. I wont lie to you it was hell. The PUPPP then turned into excema after my LO was born and it didn't clear up til October when the weather cooled down. I had a Really bad case though most women find that moisturisers (not e45 makes it worse) really helps with the itching. It should go after you have your LO.

hydrocortisone cream works wonders for itchy skin (and it's safe during pregnancy).

I've recently developed mega itching as well, especially on the arms and legs.

I have a midwife/doctor appointment on Thursday so I will bring it up then. I will also mention about the liver problem and have a blood test done (I think one will be done anyway).

It's so horrible, feels like my skin is on fire D:

Hopefully your MW will be able to help you out.

I had some itchiness start up around 36w, and it finally died down a week and change later. My OB looked at the itchiness and knew it wasn't OC and probably wasn't PUPPS, but it was definitely starting to break out. She had recommended Benadryl to help lower the itchiness. I don't react well to it, so I ended up skipping the meds and switching my moisturizer to Eucerin Calming Creme. That cleared it all up!
