Water birth - what to wear?

I am requesting a water birth as my first choice but can't seem to find anything suitable to wear that doesn't look tarty for want of a better word. My sister is hoping to be with me during labour so I don't want to dress inappropriately.

Are there any maternity type swimwear things I could look at online that aren't too expensive?

Theres some swimsuits in mamas and papas think there about £35. Im just packing a vest to wear in the pool if I decide to go in although I can imagine me ending up naked knowing me lol.

How about a tankini top?

I'm just going for a bikini top (and bottoms for the first part) but I don't know how I'll feel about wearing it at the time. I've also packed an old vest but who knows... I might end up naked

I wondered what you wore, if you could go in naked or if you needed a materity tankini but I dont fancy paying for one for one outing!!!

I would say just a bikini[ones with ties are good to get em to fit how you like] top and perhaps a long short sleeved baggy top to put over it if you don't want everything showing all the time[could also use bikini bottoms for this too but nearing the end you won't have em on!], but if you sister is going to be in labour room with you, trust me, she will see lots of bits!!! lol so don't be worried about innapropriate, no such thing in labour!!...alotta women just do it naked in the pool...you probably won't care much about it really! lol You could do a tankini top[but bikini top is cheaper] and you would prob have to get a maternity one, and i would imagine having something tight on wouldn't be fun...as I said, you probably won't care at the time.

Looking tarty will be the last thing on your mind!!!! Apparently lots of people feel more comfortable nekkid but you won't know till the time. I expect your sister won't be bothered by what you are or are not wearing.

I have a maternity swimsuit but it is a one piece so that might stop the baby getting out.

Don't spend loads of money on some birthing outfit. pack a bikini or tankini top if you want to keep your top half covered, or just a vest top. your bottom half is going to have to be uncovered anyway. If you don't have a bikini/tankini then look somewhere cheap like asda or matalan. You could just keep a tshirt on.

I wasn't planning on using the birthing pool but when we got to hospital and it was free i thought 'oh well, why not' but didn't have anything with me but the midwife said i could keep my t-shirt/bra on or be naked, i ended up just keeping my bra on and nothing else!! Never thought i'd strip off in front of random people but really didn't care by then!

I just bought a cheapo bikini from Matalan! I may put in a vest top for on top, but probably won't bother.

I'm going to be butt naked I expect! I think a tankini top is a good idea though if you want some 'coverage'.
