Hi ladies, I usually stick to Teen Pregnancy but I thought maybe some of you older women could give me some insight.
For the past almost three weeks I have had an upset stomach, some days worse than others. Since I was a baby I've had irregular bowel movements, and throughout teenage years I would only go twice maybe three times a week. I,talked to my doctor about it and he said that since it was like that from birth that it's my normal and not to worry. Well for the past almost three weeks I've had an upset stomach with DARK poo that is soft (again not MY normal whatsoever) and no matter what I do nothing seems to help. I've changed my diet, been more active, less active, etc. Nothing helps. I have been trying to get a hold of my OB but every single time I've called, nobody answers. I leave voicemails and they are never returned. I want to change my doctor since they have been this way throughout my entire pregnancy, leaving me to phone the L&d at my hospital for answers. But seeing as I'm 34 weeks, I don't know if I can switch now.
I'm going to ring again after their lunch break is over, but they probably won't answer again. Do any of you have any idea what it could be, if I need to call L&D, etc.
Hi there, I would say that you should INSIST on your doctor being changed and explain that you feel like your concerns are just being ignored!
I know that your bowels can change in pregnancy, but usually it's the opposite problem with constipation, but as you say these bowel movements are unusual for you so thats not normal for you...in which case you should see a different doctor. It cant have been nice to have an upset stomach for 3 weeks, you may need to give a stool sample as you may have an imbalance of stomach flora (good bugs in your stomach).
Don't let anyone tell you that you cant change doctors, you need to be seen to properly!
I have had loose bowel movements, off and on for my whole pregnancy. I was told its from the hormones and while it is normally constipation that happens and not looser stools it can still happen and be normal. Mine goes from being normal and sometimes borderline constipation to looser stools back and forth all the time. You should still look into finding a new doctor as the office you go through now doesnt seem to be of much help. GL
