UTI again!!

I am so sick of getting them and taking antibiotics!! Does anyone else just seem to have endless problems?

Ive had a terrible pain in my left side for 2 days now, saw the gp who did a dip test that came back clear, then phoned the day assesment because the pain got worse so they have been checking up and looking into my details. It turns out a wee sample I did with the midwife last week showed an infection just the lab have been slow processing it!! The midwives had to fax it to my doctor so that they could write me a prescription!

Anyway hopefully thats the cause of my pain and it will start to go away once the antibiotics kick in again. Although no doubt ill have another in a month!

Can you prevent getting utis? I guess me working on a till despareta for a wee but not able to go for hours doesnt help matters!!
xx

I hear water and cranberry juice help to flush them out, and LOTS of it lol.
Found this:

Quick question, when the midwife checks your pee at every appointment with the dipstick thing, does that check for UTI's?

Hey hun sorry your suffering from these I know how you feel because i've been suffering from UTI's from a very young age. I now feel when one is coming on and just drink lots of water and cranberry juice and it seems to flush it away. Also because it's a problem i suffer from frequently since i fell pregnant theyve been sending a wee sample to the lab to keep an eye on it because I don't think the mw checks for everything. Hope it gets better for you x

I had chronic uti's all my life! They recently stopped happening. Here are a few tips that help me: Try to lower your intake of sugar, bacteria thrive on sugar, you can try drinking cranberry juice but you have to make sure it is 100% cranberry juice - not cranberry cocktail, not mixed with anything else, has to be PURE....it's nasty but helps clean the kidneys out, wipe front to back if not already doing so, if you aren't able to empty your full bladder try tilted forward and backwards to get it all out, and most of all keep it clean down there.

Women get them more because of the length of our ureters and it's easier for bacteria to travel back up them as our anus is so close to them. HTH!

Ewww poor you! Next time check that the MW has sent the urine for MCS ( microscopy culture and sensitivity) it could be that they are only partially treating the bacteria for them
to flair back up again. Its very common in wee wee infections as the bugs have really weir regional resistance patterns.
Drink gallons of water and try double voiding- do your wee then sit their for 1 minute and squeeze a few more drops out. Its the residual bit of pee that can cause the trouble.
