it helps to have a ribbon on your bra or safety pin to remind you what side you fed from last time as you think you will remember but you dont always and then you are like hmmmmmm which boobie is it this time lol then you just swap it over after they have fed !!! Its one less thing to have to try to remember, sometimes its easier than others and one boobie is hard and ready to be fed from and one is still soft (very odd looking) but if its not been long inbetween feeds its harder to keep track of, just one tip :

I have a swing and a bouncer. She likes the swing better. Just make sure it's some place safe... you never know when the little suckers will get mobile. Mine's rolled herself from back to tummy twice... and she's 2.5 weeks old!

Popping over a couple of days early from the 2nd tri but glad I did to find this thread! Great questions & advice.

I also have a question. How do you know if the baby is too hot or cold therefore need more or less clothes? being due in July I'm nervous about over dressing in the summer (that is of course if summer isn't over in the UK by then!!)

They'll start acting hungry for the other boob (or more bottle!) or start falling asleep most of the time.

Similar note, but there's also a really good iPhone and Android app that will keep track for you. (It's called Feed Baby, appropriately!)

It's a pretty cool app! I have an android too. It'll also keep track of how long they've been eating and how long they've gone between meals, so when the nurses in the hospital say "how long has she been eating for?" you can actually tell them instead of just making it up. (Which is totally what I did... >.>)

Fab thread hun, thanks for starting it.

My questions are:

Would you recommend Baby moisturiser or baby oil and should you use it every time you bath baby? Im assuming the cream question before was to do with nappy cream?

Is it correct that you shouldnt bath the baby until the cord falls off and if thats the case how long does it take to fall off? I was planning to top and tail until it fell off?

If baby is born with hair would you use baby shampoo straight away or is that not needed until baby is older? (Oh and is there a special method to getting your babys head to have the gorgeous baby smell which Im obsessed with )

How do you know if your baby has colic or reflux?

Do all baby girls get "baby periods"?

Thanks!! x

I can't remember where I heard it from, but I was definitely told they should be happy wearing one more layer than you are comfortable in. So if you are in just a short sleeved t-shirt, then a vest and t-shirt should be fine for them.
