SMP is really confusing..and great the the SMP has gone up didnt hear that!

I am lucky to have a company paying me full 6 months salary then it drops to SMP etc... still a lot to try and save for the months I dont have the salary as I am the breadwinner and pay the rent etc.. but like other posters have said you get the child benefit etc as well and tax credits if you qualify!

I like the averaging idea! tht was a good idea!

is there not annual leave you can take to offset? for the first month of my maternity leave is my annual leave I have taken so one extra month of month before SMP starts.
