I also wouldn't risk it but ultimately the decision is up to you.

Stickylizard - I know you're right, of course I want to be near the hospital I'm going to, but I also agree with you that the baby will come when I feel happier...
I'm beating myself up already that it's my fault she hasn't come cause I'm so anxious etc...

It's so not your fault!....babies have their own agenda and come when they are ready. Too much emphasis is put on due dates. Babies can come anytime from 37-42 weeks. I've done my fair share of waiting in the past. DD was born on her due date and DS was born at exactly 41 weeks, for this reason I am resigned that this LO will be late too. Don't put any pressure on yourself, try and book a hair appointment or pedicure to give you something to look forward to. You could try all the old wives tales in the world and nothing will help.

I wouldn't go just because a lot can happen in 4 hours. some people have labor shorter than that.

Sorry if it sounded like I was having a go at you, I wasn't at all. I just knew you were right, but it just sucks cause I know I'd feel better away from here...

Right op whereabouts is your oh? Lets work out where the nearest hospital is and see its reputation . If its near oxford the John Radcliffe is good. As long as you have no imminent signs and take all the new baby stuff and car seat as well i say bloody go for it. Its not like you preterm and would get stuck in for a week or two.

But i wouldn't personally do it. I like to know what's happening. I had a party to go to in york last weekend but i just didn't want to be that far away from home so chickened out.

As long as you know where the local hospital is I don't see a problem but I agree about not being stuck in a car on labour. My hubbie drive me the 10 minutes to my mums last ime I was in labour and I could barely contain myself in the car, it was hell
