what I meant is, why do you need a proper changer thing:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%3ECHANGER.htm

like this for instance. When you could just put the changing mat directly on to a chest of drawers??? Sorry I think i have this all muddled lol x

Yes hun thanks. I agree. I never thought of that until someone mentioned it as I presumed you needed something to make sure the mat was secured IYKWIM. Im thinking of going down this route now and just putting a mat on top of a chest of drawers. Thanks!! x

Ahh I see! I was getting very confused and it seemed like a bit of a waste of money?! I can understand the cot changer type ones so that you can change them width ways across the cot but the ones that just go on top of the chest of drawers dont really serve a purpose in my opinion as a chest of drawers is already a flat surface! Unless you push the change mat, the baby wont slide off lol. Id save the pennies and put it towards something else

Just my thoughts xx
This is what we plan on doing too! We didn't even go for a chest of drawers in the end! We got 3 half-height Billy bookshelves at £9.99 each http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80085707/
and put them side-by-side. Then bought transparent storage boxes to put in the shelves for £1 each to keep nappies...wipes...cotton wool...etc all seperate! http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/pr...319/#/70102972.

It looks great, was really cheap, plus we can see where everything is kept without having to open drawers (but still looks tidy)!

Might need to re-think things if I have an emergency section, but it may just mean that DH has to do all the nappy changes while he is on paternity leave!

Ive bitten the bullet and bought these (which, TBH, got shit reviews but Im going to risk it anyway as they were reduced to £60 new from ebay so if they dont last it doesnt really matter.)

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search...ms/3773774.htm

Ill just put a changing mat on top like suggested on here rather than buy the changing top bit. I can always get it later if I decide I need it. Again, thanks as I never even thought of doing that.

There were loads of changing tables/drawers on localbargainfinder.co.uk but unfortunately none in my area.

Thats another thing scored off the "to buy" list!!

If you just place the slippery plastic changing mat straight onto the smooth top of the chest of drawers there is a risk of it sliding or slipping. This is more of a concern as your baby becomes stronger and can push against the wall or kick or something.
So maybe screw down the mat or stick it down or add sides to the top of the chest for safety?
I'm also wondering about the option of putting an anti slip mat between the mat and the dresser but don't know how safe that is. Probably better than nothing and it'll only cost you a pound or two for the anti slip material.

you could use sticky back velcro to keep it still
