A little bit of advice for first time mums - comforters

I know this may sound obvious - but I was an idiot for not doing it.
My husband bought my daughter a classic pooh bear comfort blanket from his mum's little gift shop when I was pregnant. She only had one in stock, and couldn't get any more.

Because it was "special" we gave it to her every night at bed time - and now she won't sleep without it. She won't go ANYWHERE without it.

I've tried to buy another but can't find this specific one anywhere. We have tantrums, we have had to run back down the street looking for it when she's dropped it, we've had it posted back to us after we've phoned around and found it's been left somewhere - but soon, we will run out of luck!

My advice is that if you DO want to buy something special that you want the baby to bond with, buy two, or make sure the items of comfort you buy are easy to get hold of xx

I second that, good advice!

My little girl wouldn't go anywhere without her little dolly. She dropped it and I retraced my steps and couldn't find it! As we got it from babies r us I just figured we would get another one but they had discontinued it! Xx

Unfortunately this doesn't always work, my niece who is currently 1.5 years old has a teddy she carries absolutely everywhere (she has been attached to it since she was about 3 months old) and on multiple occasions she has accidentally dropped it out of her pram and we've had to go on a huge hunt for it!!! Even as far as I tracing back an hours worth of walking! Because she goes ballistic without it. We went to the store where they sell them and decided to see if she'd love a new one just as much. Well, she took one look at it and was like wtf and threw it on the ground then cried for her real teddy back lol

Belie - I didn't write it particularly well, but I think maybe if people bought two, they could alternate it so they BOTH smelled and got the same amount of useage? A few of my friends did that and the kids couldn't tell the difference.
I'm sorry to hear your niece didn't take to a new one - these children are so clever! I'm trying to hunt down a new Pooh Bear but I can't find one anywhere!

This is a good idea. Both my niece and nephew had these little blankets they loved and luckily they were made by my mum who just whipped up 2 of them so one could be washed while the other was being used. Backfired a little because both kids preferred their dirty one to the clean one. They'd look at the clean one like "wtf?... this is different some how". LOL!
