Acupuncture for breech babies

Hi Ladies,

I am currently 37+ weeks pregnant. Two weeks ago my baby decided to flip into a transverse position with her head on my right side of the abdomen. My doctor advised me to go see an acupuncturist. I am thinking it's too late to try that but I still want to give it a try.

Did anyone of you have had any luck this late in your pregnancy?

Thanks

I've not needed to, but I have had friends who have had great experiences with moxibustion (I think that's what the acupuncturist would do.) one was 38 weeks and the baby flipped. Definitely worth a try!

I don't have personal experience with it, but I have a good friend who is an acupuncturist. She's relatively new to the field, but her workplace has successfully turned many babies. I don't think it would hurt, as long as you select a reputable place with professionals that specialize in treating pregnant women. I also don't think 37 weeks is too late to try - I am always hearing about babies turning at the last minute. Best of luck!

PS - My baby is currently head down, but should she flip I plan on trying the same.

You should try visiting a chiropractor who specialises in the webster technique, ive heard that has a high success rate in late pregnancy!

Wow! Thanks Tacey. I did go to the acupuncturist this afternoon and she used the moxa herb and some needles too. As per her, the success rate is more than 65%.

Reno, I have a bi-cornuate uterus so the doctor is not suggesting the manual technique.

Thanks Arj. The acupuncturist told me it takes at least 48 hrs before I know if it worked. I am scheduled for a 2nd round on Monday.

My baby is also breech (I'm 36w4d)
I've had one acupuncture appointment (I've been seeing an acupuncturist regularly during my pregnancy for pelvic issues), but the baby didn't turn
I see her again on Monday and I'm hoping it helps

My midwife gave us a moxibustion stick to try, have done it for 2 days now with no success so far unfortunately

I've also been in for 2 appointments to see a chiropractor for the Webster technique treatment. She thinks baby's position is different and that she may have flipped, but it still feels the same to me.

Good luck getting your little one to turn!

I'm on day four of the ten day moxi stick, burning technique. My acupuncturist was a mw for 20 years and there is a great success rate. Apparently they tend to turn on day 4-5 or 10-11. Will let you know, feeling very positive about it, I've had lots of big movements since starting....
