39 week appointment & they scheduled me for an induction?!?!

I had my 39 week appt today...according to my LMP im due April 11 but my growth scans say April 8....so according to my Dr im 39+1 today...anyways he told me if i dont have the baby within 6 days they are inducing me?! I will be 40 weeks exactly (going by LMP) and 40+3 (going by growth scan)...

This seems so early to be inducing me! I dont have high bp or anything...

Im shocked...i really dont want an induction...

They can't force you to have an induction can they? Can't you tell them you don't want it?

in the US they usually dont want you to go overdue. you should have said something if you wouldnt want an induction. i personally had mine at 40+1 and LOVED it!

You can refuse the induction but here in the US they do tend to induce around 39-40 weeks I was induced right at 39 weeks with my youngest and had no real reason for it other than I wanted it but I had been through it before and it went the same as it did with my oldest and I had no problems

I'll be 41 weeks exactly at my induction and I'm in Canada...I'm super excited though as I have a feeling he'd hang around a while otherwise. I'm sure you can say no though if you really don't want to be induced!

Thats ridiculous. You don't need to be induced that early if you don't want to be. I'm in the US and my doctor likes to induce at 41 but I plan to negotiate for after that if necessary. It's your choice. If you don't want to be induced you should call and talk to your doc about it.

Tell them you do not agree to induction before 42 weeks, problem solved. Seems like its just a doctors convience type of induction. dont be afraid to stand ur ground, its ur health.
