terrible diarrhoea, and cramps, is it normal?

So since last night I have had explosive diarrhoea, its been horrendously painful and gushing out of me (sorry haha) it wont stop and also the cramps are unlike anything I have experienced before so naturally with my anxiety I worry its symptoms of early labour but how likely is that??

its good friday here today so the medical centres are closed.
Is immodium safe to take to control the diarrhoea as I know if its severe enough it can cause dehydration and pre term labour if I leave it untreated and it gets worse.....

HELP someone

i had this a few weeks ago and was told by my midwife that sometimes strong bowel movements can cause uterine contractions but theyre usually nothing to worry about as they do not change the cervix

hope this helps put your mind at rest if in doubt call your labour ward for some advice and reassurance x

ETA: just keep well hydrated, drink plenty of water and try to eat bland foods such as dry toast or toast with the butter scraped on and off, digestive biscuits etc. avoid dairy products. basically treat it as a stomach bug. mine continued for a good 48 hours but then it stopped on its own. i wouldnt worry about taking medication just yet just use common sense and look after yourself, if its no better in a day or two then ask your pharmacist what you can take x

thank you
so its just most likely a bad stomach bug causing the pain as before pregnancy I remember diarrhoea was never a comfortable experience lol

I'll call my midwife tomorrow if its still persisting to the extent it has been today, because I've been ten times :/ but its all in the back end lol tmi there is no blood or mucus coming from the cervix which is a good sign then

I feel for you! I've had this the past 2 days too. I was advised to try Diarolyte (probably mis-spelled). Definately helped me feel rehydrated again and the diarohea has pretty much stopped now But definately also try dry toast, anything bland/starchy etc. If you do get worried though, call your MW as thats what they're there for hope you're better soon!
