I know how you feel. I had a speculum up there before and it was so uncomfortable. I dread them examining me - I think more than the pain of labour!

But, sometimes when I get very bad cramps/BH I start to dread what labour will feel like!

I was on a labour ward in Feb time and hearing women scream was terrifying.. (I was there due to reduced movement).

Lol, luckily I am okay with needles. I have been poked that many times that I just find it normal! Plus, with my bad spine I am used to aching pains, etc. I am just dreading the contractions and nausea! I do not do well with sickness!

I am terrified too! I remember hearing my aunt as a kid tell the story of how they used to allow women to be completely unconscious during labor and she did that so I called my mom to ask her what drug she asked the doctors for, my mom told me that they no longer do that and told me the real story of what happened to my aunt. Long story short, When she woke up the baby they had given her was a ginger baby. (We are black) LOL! But hey, I would still go for it!

You're not alone, we are all terrified in one way or another. If it's not the labor and delivery its wondering if we'll be a good parent or if instincts will take over or if we will look clueless and stupid... you just have to have confidence in yourself and know your birth plan well enough that you don't try to be a martyr knowing that you have a low pain tolerance and trying to suffer through it w/o meds. I am the SAME WAY and right now I am hovering between trying to do it w/o an epidural until I am at the point of passing out from the pain. Motherhood is scary, we're all right here with you!

And I had the pelvic exam a few times now since I was in preterm labor at 29 weeks. The nurse who did my first one had man hands and it was AWFUL. But my OB is really gentle and it doesn't hurt when he does it.
