sharp twinges....what are these?

I woke up with pressure down below, like baby's head would pop out if I bent over...and all day I've had stabbing in my cervix which isn't bothering me. What's bothering me is really sharp twinges on my left (where the baby is lying) - they're only very brief twinges but they are painful enough to make me jump each time. Bubba has been quieter than normal the past two days...is he just preparing himself for eviction?!

Thanks chick, it's not too uncomfortable but it keeps happening and it really shocks me every time!!

I've got this too, was out shopping yesterday and felt like baby was going to fall out, lol! I don't know whether it's the baby stretching out - I get a pain in my cervix and a pain under my ribs at the same time sometimes, like he's trying to stretch out but is running out of space. Just had a very sore moment, made me wince for about 30 seconds - DH's face was a picture, think he thought I was about to go into labour!

I've had this! It was ligaments, I think. It got better when I sat down and relaxed.

From all the reading I've done it's baby pushing on cervix, and possibly the cervix thinning and effacing, and possible dilation. Takes your breath away! LOL
