Had my beautiful baby girl but she was meant to be a boy

At my 20 week scan they told me it was definitely a boy we were having (my first baby). Everyone bought us blue stuff and gave us blue cards etc... Went into labour on Wednesday night and at 1:58am Friday I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl 9lb 8oz she's not chunky just really long limbed her sad is 6'6 and I'm 5'8 she is so alert and active and she is so strong I don't think it will be long before she can roll herself over in her Moses basket which is worrying! I just can't stop looking at her, iv had 1 ad a half hours sleep since I gave Birth because she sleeps all day and is awake all night unless i hold her ... Can u imagine our faces when they announces it was a girl they had already wrote male on her tags and the midwife was scared to tell us it was a girl but we weren't bothered as we were not anti boy or anti girl to start with its just been a massive waste of money as we bought loads of clothes and have took all tags off ad washed them... But it's an excuse to go shopping again lol... I'll upload some pics of her aswell . Her name is ruby Mae.

I just started wondering today if this would happen to me. I'm supposed to have a boy. My daughter calls my bump Samuel. Congratulations on your girl.

I never believe what I'm having until birth....Nursery is pale blue, bedding is neutral and I haven't gone crazy with gender specific clothing.. I think you have handled it superbly. At the end of the day you have a healthy baby. Congratulations. X

Congratulations! That's sure a surprise for the proud parents!! I was just joking around about this tonight with my mother. I said if we ended up having a girl I probably wouldn't bother trying to take clothing back - most of it I could not anyway as I removed tags and washed as well - so I'd just have to make some matching hairbows to go with the boy clothing lol.

Wow congratulations! What a shock! I was told for sure I am having a boy at my 18 week scan, but up until then I strongly believed it was a girl and it took me a while to believe it. Sometimes I still wonder if they got it wrong, although I've gotten used to my baby being a boy and it would be another shock if it ended up being a girl. Especially since we've already started buying things and decorating.

Can I ask why they thought it was a boy? Did they get a good potty shot at your 20 week scan and did they think they saw boy parts? If it wasn't boy parts, was it the umbilical cord or something else?
