Paint and Sleep

My husband painted our room today and I was wondering if it was safe for me to sleep there? My husband says it doesn't smell, I can kind of smell the paint a bit,but my nose has always been very sensitive to smells. I am soo tired and it's so hot downstairs. I don't know if it matters but the paint used was Behr.

Thank you ladies

Wish I could help, but I have no idea, sorry. Were the windows open while he painted and afterwards?

I'm pretty sure that water based painted are safe. Most indoor paints are water-based so you should be ok!!

And in addition to the above, I've read that as long as the room was well ventilated when being painted, you should be ok! I've read you shouldn't over expose yourself to the fumes from the paint, but that was more in relation to if you were painting the room yourself.

I think you should be fine as long as the room is ventilated (e.g a window is open)

Do you know if it was VOC-free or low VOC paint? Personally I would wait another day at least for it to air out.

I thought water based paints were fine too. If not.. I have painted/ helped OH paint 3 bedrooms, the hallway and our lounge over the past few weeks =/

I would personally wait but not because I think its necessarily unsafe, just because of the smell. OH painted our nursery on Saturday and its still stinking of paint despite having the windows open the whole time. I hate the smell. Uggggg.

Minikiwi - there is no harm in you being around when its being painted or helping providing the room is well ventilated. You would have got dizzy if there were any issue. xx

Our house has stunk of paint (water-based and otherwise) for the last 2 months or so as we've had lots of work done. I got out in the fresh air as much as possible and opened windows to air it out. Hopefully my baby won't pop out high on fumes!! X
