doing too much, is it selfish?

ive mentioned this before, but just to recap....
we are putting on an addition to our house to make room for baby. we are doing most of the work ourselves to save money mostly. my OH has been working every night on it to get it done for me so i have some time to relax before Stella comes. (hoping to have it done by 35 weeks)
sooo.....while he is at work, i have been mudding and taping the drywall. its A LOT of work for me being this pregnant.
i also have 3 kids (6, 3, and 1) to take care of and a house to maintain.
im exhausted.
i am crampy today, woke up with a back ache and more discharge than normal. its not my plug though because its not chunky or think (sorry eww)
i have BH but i get those allll the time regardless of my activity.
im making sure to drink tons of water and not doing any lifting.

am i being selfish by wanting it all done by the time she arrives? the last thing i want is to tire her out in there or make her come early.
i know she doesnt care what her house looks like, but its a primal nesting urge i have....

i just want it done, so i can clean it!! haha
im afraid of going from chaos of renovation to chaos of a new baby with no break in between.

Little Stella is probably having a lovely time in there! All the motion means that she'll be rocked to sleep all the time!

We're doing work on our house, I've been sanding and painting our bannister this week and taking up wooden flooring today ready for carpets to be fitted tomorrow! We've got loads to do so I've given up on the idea that it'll be done in time for the baby but I still want to get most done. It's better for you to keep active and if you're anything like me I can't keep still so if I wasn't doing this I'd find something else to do.

When I went shopping for the sandpaper and paint the woman on the till said "please tell me you're not painting!" I said "yes, why not? I'm not ill, I'm just having a baby!"

Don't feel guilty, women run marathons whilst heavily pregnant! Xx

I'd say just make sure you rest a lot in between everything, and don't breathe in any fumes from the plaster, or any sealants, etc. We've had a super busy week of it-- got a new wardrobe, new desk, dryer on it's way, dishwasher door changed, new bookshelf, etc. THe list goes on. I haven't built anything, but I've done most of the re-organising myself. We've had to empty out the room we were using for our storage and rearrange everything! All while getting ready to have a guest this week and sort out the last of the baby stuff. I just make sure to rest a part of everyday, and as my doctor said-- put my feet up. I think you can generally judge when you need a break.

I also get some bh, but they don't seem related to when I move. They are always worse in the morning. THough I suppose all the rib cage pain forces me to sit down a lot more than I would otherwise.

I don't think you are selfish! It's nice to make the time go by, and you definitely don't want to be doing it all after your LO arrives!

I would say that no, you are not selfish at all for wanting it to be done before she arrives, it would be worse if you were still doing it afterwards!

I do think, however, that the extra BH and discharge might be a little indication that you need to take a day relax, for your own sake rather than Stella's! I spent several days over the Easter weekend sorting out our spare room, including sorting through mountains of boxes and clothes and painting the room (twice as it needed 2 coats) and I'm fairly certain baby loved all the movement, he/she just goes to sleep when I'm moving around all the time!

It's funny really, when I was pregnant with my first and people treat you with kid gloves I was sooooo careful and if somebody said I should rest I would. This time I have a toddler who jumps on my belly several times a day and I don't get chance to sit down very often but I feel healthier this time around! Think I've done ten times what I did when pregnant last time!! Xx

I think you are fine...just listen to your body and everything should work out perfectly. You know your body best. I too have been on a hamster wheel with no rest and when I get tired or need a break I take one. My son is thrilled he finally can watch tv. I say the more active the better for your baby..they like the movement. Just make sure you are eating and hydrated and good luck with the remodeling.
