Anyone else really afraid of going early for a significant reason?

My due date is June 14th....and my one year mark at work is May 23rd. That is way too close for comfort in my opinion. If I don't make it to May 23rd (or thereabouts...I'm sure if he decided to show on May 20th, they wouldn't cut me off), I would lose paid maternity leave and continued benefits, vacation pay, etc. etc.
This is my first, and I am down to only 9 weeks left, which is a little scary on its own. (Heck, I found out at only 3 weeks, so I've been worrying and excited and stressed for 28 weeks now!)

Every time I get a twinge in my cervix or "down there"...every braxton-hicks...every time there's slightly reduced movement...a part of my brain keeps saying, "oh no...not yet.....six more weeks at least!!" I had a scare last week where out of nowhere I slightly wet myself (the joys of pregnancy!) and was terrified my water was leaking or breaking. And it keeps going back to the work situation. He's already measuring at 32 weeks, so I'm not worried about him being early health-wise. So far, he's been perfect, no issues, no anamolies, not even a question, and very strong...I have a feeling he's going to be a bruiser, and would be one of those babies who would be perfectly fine born at 36/37 weeks.
But add to this mix that my fiance is currently out of work. Very actively seeking work, of course, but...talk about bad timing. If Jake made an early appearance and I lost my maternity pay, we'd be pretty screwed.
Kind of a stressful situation.

I don't have anywhere near as good a reason as you to keep baby locked up in my womb, but hubby is going on a rugby tour to Ireland when I am 35 weeks pregnant and it would be much better if we could jump into the future and I find out if Pip stays put that weekend before he goes. It's our first and he'll kick himself if I go into labour and he misses it, but he'll also be peeved to miss the tour too. Priorities - hey?!

I don't have quite as good a reason, but my end of year exams end on the 21st and I'm due the 29th... I really don't want to have to do them in August.

My only reason for not wanting to go too early is that the flat is in no way ready for a baby so I'd like another week or 2 to get sorted, then babba can arrive any time he or she likes

DH went home to Ireland for the Easter weekend (to watch rugby rather than play it!), 36 weeks pregnant, I was just praying baby wouldn't decide to come earlier!!

My very frivolous reason is that I'm going on holiday when I'm 37 weeks. Only down to Devon, but that's about a 3 1/2 hour drive from home, and I'm planning a home birth. Must try to not get too relaxed!

Hope these babies stay put!

I don't have any dates to be scared of. However I wanted to say that I used to worry about premature labor but here I am now 9 days from my due date and desperately wanting her out! Your fears are normal just try not to let it consume you and enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can.

I'm exactly the same - I'd like another couple of weeks to get organised and then it'll be fine! (and as I'm almost certainly getting induced by my due date I only have 3 weeks at the most!)

I am sure you have read the policy and got it right, but in the UK the qualification period for maternity benefits is usually that you have been employed for a certain amount of time x weeks before the week that the baby is expected. I seems very unfair to not give the benefits to someone just because their baby was early. Like you said, I hope they would see sense!
