You might be surprised that they will fit, even just for a couple of days. My son was 9 lb 6 oz and fitted new born for a while. Id take them anyway, you never know x

Exactly what I was about to say - even down to the weight my son was lol. It can take a couple of days for LO to 'expand' from being in the womb, so newborn outfits may well fit. Earl was in NB for about a week before we had to move him up to 0-3, and some shops the sizing is more generous than others so some will be bigger than others. Pack a mix of sizes and brands, and then go from there.

Oh and get used to baby not working to your plan. Plans are best if kept flexible with children. Yours is just getting you into the habit early lol.

This happened to someone my dad knows, what they did was cut the feet out the outfits and use a sowing machine to make them look hemmed or whatever its called and puts socks and booties on there son, made the newborn clothes last a few weeks anyway as all the clothes had been washed and tags removed so they couldnt take them back

I'd still take newborn. I was talking to my midwife about clothing sizes and she said shed never seen a baby that fitted properly in 0-3 at birth

My LO was 8lbs 9oz and was in tiny baby for a few weeks so I think I'm pretty safe taking newborn even if this baby is bigger

I haven't bothered with anything in newborn size, my sis's little boy didn't fit into either of the newborn babygrows she'd packed so someone had to go out and buy 0-3 for him when he was born!! I've been considering buying 1 or 2 newborn though, just in case!!

One of my sisters was 24" long when she was born (the rest of us were 21 or 22"!) so on the off chance that my baby inherits her freakishly tall genes (she's a good 5-6 inches taller than both me and my older sister!), which is unlikely really since I'm 5'6" and DH is 5'9" (really I don't even think he's that tall...he lies!), but you never know, I'd like the baby to at least fit into the clothes I have haha!

Bless! I have NB but mainly 0 - 3 months. I tried to keep things open as I know my baby might be big, though I don't think she will be now..

I have a mixture of ages! I have 3 plain white early baby sleepsuits and vests, about 10 newborn sleepsuits and vests and then 0-3. only a handfull of it is new, I have had some given me and bought plenty online and at nct sales. once he is born and I know the correct sizes I will buy a few 'cute' outfits for when we go out.

I was only 5lb 7oz born and hubby was between 7-8lb mil cant remember exact weight. So theres a bit of a difference to guess by!

P x

You did the opposite of me! My son was 8 lb 14oz when born and barely fit into newborn for a week, so I had mostly 0-3 month clothes for this baby.

Then she was born tiny (6lb 5oz, I saw the picture from the hospital today, she was not 6lb 6oz as I was told!) and got down to 5lb 14oz in the hospital. I had to run out and buy preemie clothes, and she's almost a month old and most newborn clothes are STILL swimming on her.

Never count on your plans for a baby... they screw them up as fast as you make them. LOL

I've got mostly 0-3 but you'd be surprised how small 'big' babies actually are! There's always been big babies in my family and all of them have started wearing NB, even if it's just for a couple of weeks xo
