I feel your pain - that was our local hospital when we lived in n. London and it is awful (although I never used it for maternity services). Barnet is supposed to be pretty poor too unfortunately. It was featured on a Panorama program a few years ago about poor maternity care (although I appreciate things can change over time!)

DH and i have both had reasonably positive experiences with UCLH, although I don't know if that's an option you'd be offered?

have heard amazing things about UCLH. the thing would be i dont drive, and my OH does but i would imagine that hosp to have congestion charge and not much parking? and quiet a way to go when in labour...

barnet - yes not great have heard it shuts the doors 3 nights a week.

A friend of mine had her baby at chase farm 4 weeks ago, she said it was fab and had nothing bad to say about it. i personally would steer clear of barnet, have heard nothing positive about it.
I am having mine at princess alexandra in harlow, i know its not easy to get to but the cab fair from cheshunt at anytime is £20-25. not sure if that makes any difference to you.
Good luck x

I had my little girl at Barnet and am having this baby there too...I found it fantastic first time round as have all my friends that have delievered there. Things have changed an awful lot since the panorama was filmed.

Why not go and have a look around Barnet and see what you think?

My antenatal care is at Barnet and with the exception of one crap MW and miserable receptionist, my experience there has been positive. They've really looked after me and bubzy and I'm hoping to have my baby there and not go chase farm as it's farther away. In an ideal world I'd have the baby at Edgware but sadly that's not an option

I'd of loved to have the option of having bubzy at Whittington (very positive things I've heard about that hospital) but apparently I could only pick between barnet and chase farm because of the boroughs?

At the end of the day, if you're truly unhappy you can always change hospitals, annoying but you can!

One thing I will say about Barnet - The maternity day unit and labour ward are amazing - The rest of the hospital not so much, I don't know why but they upgraded the maternity units and seemed to have forgotten about the rest
