Labour advice please! Signs and Symptoms..

Hi, I am 37+4 today and I feel like im never going to go into labour...
Its my first baby and really not sure what to expect!
I have noticed over the last few days that discharge has changed (sorry for tmi).
Since being pregnant I have lost loads of milky discharge, but over the last few days it has become more egg whitey and sticky!
Can anyone give me some advise/ info!
Does labour just start or do you have signs beforehand?
Many Thanks

When I was 36 weeks I noticed I started to actually get discharge. I've NEVER had any my entire pregnancy and my cervix hadn't dilated or effaced whatsoever so I think it's just from hormones.

For many labor just starts but for others it has some signs, like tons of pressure, some lose their plug with bloody show before labor, etc. But for many, they have no signs and it just happens overnight! So it's really hard to say because it's different for everyone.

Just try to be optimistic, that's what I've had to do. Baby will be here very soon, you are very near to the end of the game!

With my little girl, the feeling of her pushing down got much more intense. The night my waters broke I just couldn't settle, I had a small bump so sleeping was never an issue for me until that night. I just had a sense to get up and as soon as I did, my waters started trickling down my leg! But apart from that nothing xx

Yup - some women get lots of signs leading up to labour, but not actually dead cert giveaways that labour is imminent (me = prime fecking example, I have had EVERY damn sign going and am now literally just waiting for it all to kick off!).

Others have absolutely nothing, nada, zilch, then BAM - like a friend of mine, who just last night went from feeling totally pissed off and fed up to holding her baby in just two hours.

There's really no way of telling *when*, but increased discharge does mean that your body is preparing. Here's the signs that I've had, but like I say these do not mean that labour is close at hand necessarily (obviously, cos I'm still pregnant, lol):

Increased discharge
Loss of plug
Increased BH/period type pains (this is baby engaging in my case)
Nesting/strange and sudden burst of energy
Sickness at night again (hormonal surge)
Bowels playing up - got severe clearout yesterday morning and keep needing to go lots
Bump has dropped waaaaaaaay low
Hormones in general going mental - keep swinging from anxiety/nervousness to being over-excited

And now, I've got a cold which they say is often another sign; it was with my last baby, so here's hoping.

Still, lack of these symptoms doesn't mean that you couldn't go into labour at any time, hun.

Seriously, having a cold is a sign? I've been having the period type pains/more discharge/got a cold/hormonalness

Today my hormones are going crazy! Had 2 friends ask me how baby is doing and suddenly the amount of panic and anxiety I felt has now left me with a headache -____-

How very strange

I didn't notice much for changes last time. my bump dropped a little bit every wednesday for 3 weeks and then baby came the following monday. I had a tiny tiny bit of red blood when I wiped the morning of the day labor started. Other than that I didn't notice anything weird with my first. Of course I wasn't as into looking at discharge as I am now since ttc #2.

I've been having eggwhite now for about a week. I've had big pink globby mucus a few days ago and sunday had mucus with red blood streaks. Nothing else is happening. Not even having bh lately. I think you may still be waiting a couple of weeks. It all depends on baby.

Well so far I've dropped looooooaaaads I have nearly 2 hand spaces between my boobs n my bump,
Loads of tightenings where I can actually see baby shape heaving upwards,
Increased discharge, not had it all the way through,
Awful backache and period type cramps,
Have been sick quite a lot on an evening!
On Friday night the tightenings got as close to 3/4 mins apart, spoke to labour ward who advised to take paracetemol and call back in an hour, to which they completely stopped at around 3am, since then they have been on and off going on for 4/5 hrs and getting as close as 4 mins apart again but then stopping!
Have just rang the assessment unit as I'm getting a lot of pressure down below and a lot of back pain but the midwife said its Braxton Hicks and barely let me speak to tell her what was happening, I'm quite angry tbh but I'll keep waiting til I know the shifts have changed n I'll ring bk!!!

Yup, honestly - cold/flu like symptoms are *really* common before the onset of labour. Even Google it, lol. I was told when having my DD2, cos I said I'd felt like I was taking a cold for a day or two but that it never evolved into a fully blown cold - midwife told me it's another classic sign that labour isn't far off.

Of course it could always just mean that you have a cold...lol. That's the wonderful thing about labour!

Is bowel clearing out a promising sign? Because I am having mild cramps and watery stools for two days. It certainly doesnt feel like something I ate wrong. Grrhh.. I hope it is the start of something each time!
