Low AFI... Reassurance needed

I found out yesterday during a scan that although baby is estimated at 3.5 pounds at 29 weeks which is fantastic & all measurements are above the average line on scan chart, the Amniotic fluid is measuring at 9.5cm, a little on the low side. My consultant didnt even mention it? I read the measurment after in my notes which stated ...AFI 5th centile 9.5 and as you do i went and googled :/ Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated I'm
Prob worrying over nothing but due to a previous 2nd tri loss to pre e and hellp everything is a worry. I have another gowth scan in two weeks so hoping it has not gone down anymore!

Thanku

My AFI at 33 weeks was 8.1cm - low but not disasterous. I had another scan a week later to check the levels again and they had remained the same so the consultant is satisfied. If your consultant didn't say anything I expect he/she is waiting to see what your next scan shows in 2 weeks before mentioning it to you as your levels may well go back to normal.
3.5lbs at 29 weeks is brilliant, unfortunately we have a case of IUGR and our LO is only 4lbs at 35 weeks hence the concern over the AFI. I think it's reassuring that your LO is a healthy weight and if the consultant was concerned over your fluid levels he would certainly have had another scan sooner than two weeks.
P.S. Google is bad!!

Thank you, feel much better now it did say on dreaded google that it can be linked with IUGR which is also what happened during my last pregnancy. It also said it can be linked to placental problems and pre eclampsia so have all fingers crossed it's a normal low and will not decrease by my next scan. Hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy!
