For those who had only gained 12lb by 24 weeks.....

I know this is another annoying weight thread but I'm wondering if those whoe had gained around 12lb by 24 weeks went on to gain a lot more or lot less by end of 3rd tri.

I weigh 12lb more than pre pregnancy and I'm ok with that but I'm sat here contemplating whether I should have a bacon sandwich for supper and wondering if I keep giving in to these temptations will I gain too much? I only want to gain 25lb as advised by MW

Don't deny yourself food! If you fancy a bacon sandwich, why the hell not!
12lb is a relatively small amount to have gained by 24 weeks compared to some people

It's so hard to predict. Everyone gains weight differently. By 24 weeks, I had gained much more weight than you - probably close to 20 pounds. I'm now almost 36 weeks and have only gained about 25 pounds total. My midwife has guessed I probably won't gain much more in the last few weeks (although some do!). I thought for sure I'd be in the 35-40 pound range when you looked at my rate of weight gain in the second tri.

I think some women go crazy with their eating habits during pregnancy, but I think some of the weight gain is beyond your control as well. My diet and exercise habits only changed slightly from pre-pregnancy to pregnancy and I had still gained 20 pounds by 24 weeks. Some women will do the same and gain 10 by that time and some will gain 30. One bacon sandwich certainly shouldn't make a huge difference

With all the weight threads I've been reading I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong =(. According to my appt at 25 weeks I only gained 3.5 lbs. If you're on the "fluffy" side pre-pregnancy could that be a reason you wouldn't gain so much weight?

I think the weight gain varies. I lost a lot of weight, and still havent gotten back to my pre-pregnancy numbers.

I began gaining weight around the halfway mark, but slowly and at a steady pace. I know I still have several weeks left, but I havent yet experienced any big, unexpected weight gains. I dont eat any differently than before, and I indulge in cravings if I get them.

Other women will have totally different weight experiences. My mom gained 70lbs with me, most of it coming in 3rd trimester. Hopefully Im not genetically doomed to repeat that.

It depends on the person. I put on 23 lbs with my son, 9 yrs ago. I figured I would gain more this time, being older with a slower metabolism. Nope. I am 29 weeks and have only put on about 12 lbs. According to my dr, some people are just lucky like that. I was a healthy weight to start out with, and I eat a ton. I eat a lot of healthy foods, just like I did before getting pregnant. However, ice cream is something I eat a lot of now. Oh, well. All my weight is in my belly and boobs. With both of my pregnancies, I actually lost weight in my arms and legs. I am measuring exactlly where I should be. BTW - with my son I lost all the weight in 5 days. My belly was still flabby and nothing was the same size as pre pregnancy, but the weight was gone - without trying.
