What to do about marshmallow feet when you work all day and can't put them up?

Like most of you, my feet have swollen up like marshmallows (how sad that saying that makes me want roasted marshmallows! lol). I'm a slim girl, but I can poke my finger into my foot and leave a dent that lasts for 5-minutes. The rest of me is normal...so far! Blood pressure is great (low, actually).

I want to reduce the swelling, but can't put my feet up because I work all day - it sit in an office chair. Getting up and walking around doesn't help at all. Drinking more water doesn't seem to help either. Will ANYTHING help during the work day?

Ask your H&S person to order you a foot rest and then adjust your seat if you can for a little while each day. Make sure you wear low shoes (which I'm sure you are) which fit well and make sure you have a little walk every hour to help the circulation. Watch how much salt you are consuming too and maybe try drinks like hot water and lemon juice which are supposed to be diuretics (sp?). Now's also a great time for a pedicure / foot massage. You might want to ask your mw / GP too and see if they think support stockings etc. would be good for you. Soaking your feet in tonic water (seltzer - where you are?) is suppossed to help but I have no idea how!

Thanks! This is all good advice - I put put feet up on a box under the desk, but it still seems too low to do much good. Maybe I'll try the foot soak They say that swimming helps with swelling overall - I have yet to go to the community pool, though!

Watermelon is supposed to help. Definitely ask your doctor or midwife because pitting can be a sign of preeclampsia.
