Any ultrasounds in 3rd trimester?

31 weeks pregnant with first little sprout. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks to confirm, and at 20 for organs and sex determination. Everything has been pretty smooth during pregnancy. I was just wondering, 20 weeks on the back end of pregnancy seems a long time to go without an ultrasound, but my doc hasn't said anything about another one. So I was wondering if it's routine to do another one in the 3rd trimester. How else do they know how LO is placed and how much he's weighing in at? Or check for any abnormalities that could have developed after the last one.
....That, and I'd just like to see him on screen again, of course

I've had 2 actually. One was to check baby's presentation as they couldn't tell for sure. The other was this week they wanted to double check baby's size and my fluid levels.

I've had so many ultrasounds for this pregnancy it seems. My first I only had one the whole time.

They dont usally unless there is a reason, i had on this week becuase of a low lying placenta. Most majar issues would have be seen at 20 week scan and doctor can feel the baby to check size and if he thinks bub feels small or big they will do a ultrasound

It depends on your doctor/midwife. Some do routine 3rd trimester growth ultrasounds, others only do ultrasounds if there are concerns. My last diagnostic scan was at 18 weeks and I won't be getting another one unless my OB thinks there's a problem.

Some get a growth ultrasound at 36 weeks but its really your midwife's/doctor's preference. The midwife I see is doing one at 36 weeks but other midwife's at the practice don't do anymore. It all depends.

If you've had complications in the pregnancy, then they will probably do more.

I would not have had another past my 20 week scan, except they wanted to see if my previa had moved, so I would not have to have a c-section.(It did not move, had the c-section)

They don't tend to give you scans routinly unless theres a reason.

I've had quite a lot of scans so far...2 were routine ones 12 & 20week scans.
3 ive had due to spotting twice spotting at 5weeks and scan at 7.5weeks and spotting at 27weeks and scan at 28weeks. and pain in my abdomen at 9weeks.

I've had the 28week one due to spotting,
had one next week at 33weeks due to measuring quite a bit ahead,
and possible scan after then too due to my baby being breech.

It depends on the country of residence, and on the OB/MW but mine did a quick ultrasound at 36 weeks to see if she was head down - and she was. My only other ones were at 8.5 weeks to check my dates and again at 20 weeks to check for anomalies. I'm from Canada, though.
