So.. I'm not sure what to make of this.. I have a painful raised lump just above my belly button. It only hurts if I press on it. (No, it's not the baby.) Does anyone know what this might be? Should I call my midwife? Blah..
Could it be an umbilical hernia? (I am really no expert though). I've had a hernia before (but lower down) and it was a lump under the skin where the muscle has torn a bit and a bit of fat pushes through. I think pregnancy can cause it because there is a lot of pressure on your muscles.
If you look on google it says that they *could* have complications, but that is quite rare, mine was only painful if I pressed it and I know several people who've had one too. I had to have an operation to fix it, but I was 100% better three days later.
As I say though I'm no expert! So it might not be that. Ask your midwife/doctor. If it was that, it's no emergency, they would sort it after the baby is born xx
