It amazes me that y’all UK girls only have to stay 6 hours.. Why the heck do we have to stay 3 days in the US???

I think it depends on the hospital. Around here most women only stay 24-48 hours after an uncomplicated vaginal birth But I'm guessing the US/UK difference has more to do with insurance than anything, since their hospitals are run by the NHS whereas here everything is private. We also have a lot more malpractice lawsuits in the US, so doctors are probably more cautious about discharging patients too soon.

I don't think I wouldve lied if I hadn't peed, but that bit was fine, I hadn't eaten properly for days while in labour and had a clearout so there wouldn't have been much there, I had laxatives for months because of my tear, I did start to panic abit too because it took 5 days even with 2 types of laxatives for anything to happen but I would've hated to be in hospital all that time, and obviously you would go back If you had problems. I think it's how you feel in yourself but next time id probably say no I havnt but if I don't then I'll come back, they can't stop you leaving but at the time I didn't know that x

With my outher 2 they where not botherd about pooing for a few days after brith as you have a clear out befor and they don't expect you to go with in a few hrs of birth but you do have to have a wee in a jug and show them how much you have done befor they will let you go so after my LO was bron i drank loads of water just so i could wee i was home 4 hrs after having him.

Yeah, that's not true in all cases. Only if it was an uncomplicated, vaginal, natural birth would my hospital let you go home the same day.
I am most likely having an epidural in which case I will be kept in for a day or two or as long as needed.

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable going home so fast after just having my baby but this is my 1st, I may feel differently if I was on my 2nd or 3rd lol.

I'm dreading the Peeing and pooping bit the most because my friends who have children have told me it feels so strange first time you go! Not sure if I'd lie but then again some ladies say the wards are awful!

Xxx

It is never worth lying! They ask you those questions for a very good reason and it is not just to 'keep you in'. If you haven't pooped (which wouldn't be surprising after your clear out and not eating proper meals for some time) they mostly give advice on what to watch out for and when to seek medical advice. You can still go home if everything else is well.
