Pelvic pain!!!

Hey Girls!
Just looking for some information, Iv been getting this pain down below for a while now (as if iv pulled a muscle) i can only walk for about 5 minutes then it hurts & im in agony the whole night & next day. It hurts when i have to turn when im lying down and the pains just constantly here now! I had the midwife last week & she said it was pelvic pain & his referred me to the physio & iv got an app on monday (thank god). Just wondering has anyone else had this & been to physio if so what will they do? Some people have mentioned a 'belt' to me or even crutches lol. Any advice would be great, currently 29 weeks & 5 days xx

That sounds like SPD, it's from your ligaments and pelvis softening to allow the babies head to fit through the birth canal.

Unfortunately it will probably only get worse. I've had it since 23 weeks and it's agony now. I've found ways to manage/tolerate it, such as sleeping with a pillow between my legs, having frequent rests, hot/warm baths, and while I am resting, having feet up.

Over here in Canada we don't get referred to physio, my OB has told me there is really nothing I can do about it until I deliver. The support belt is supposed to help keep your bump not have so much pressure on your pelvis. Good luck

I know how you're feeling! I was diagnosed with SPD on wednesday as I'd been in agony too! I've been referred for physio too and put on co-dydramol 4xa day to help. But nothing is helping at all! I think the best thing is to rest as much as possible and take the weight off.

I've been suffering with this. Saw the physio last Thursday. It was like a group session basically they can't stop it but gave lots of advice on how to minimise the pain. They also gave us a support to wear which I've found really helps. I've also bought one from boots which is better for back pain too I find.

They recommend doing loads of pelvic floor exercises and aqua natal classes so long as they are run by nhs qualified staff. We've got to see how we get on for next 2 weeks with the advice given and go back if it's still a problem, they said they'd then start at looking at more intensive treatment like acupuncture and hydrotherapy if need be.

They said in most cases this completely goes after you've had your baby so not to worry about any long term damage.
