JaysMummy - That was it!!

Last time I posted I had just had a sweep, was 1-2 cms and was having a few cramps well the sweep worked!!!

I had it around 3pm and by 6pm, I had a "tummy ache" put the other kids to bed and told OH I think I'm having contractions. Went for a couple of BM and felt like I constantly needed a wee. OH asked if I still wanted dinner putting on and I said yes plenty of time.

By half 6 I'd phoned the birthing centre as pains were 3-4mins apart and I was starting to feel sick, and my Mum came round to stay with the children.

Got to the birthing centre around 7, where they were just changing shifts so had my obs done and waited for night shift MW to come and examine me. She did around 7:45pm and I was 3cms. She told me I could go home if I wanted as I was still in the early stages or I could stay as they were quiet. I decided to stay as the drive is 20mins there and then 20mins back again. She told me contractions were close together but they needed to get longer.

We got the TV working and watched the end of Eastenders. The mw started to fill up the pool for me and by 8pm I was asking for G&A. Got in the pool around 10mins later, was only in there 10mins and she told me I was losing blood but she couldn't moniter it the pool so had to get out and lay down.

I got a really bad urge to push and was totally out of it on the gas and air by this point. You sort of feel like your not there and can't hear what anyones saying to you. Then I remember them telling me to stop pushing, he was coming too quick.

He was born at 8:35pm, according to my notes after 38mins of established labour and 2mins of pushing!! Weighing 7lbs 9ozs and the double but slightly smaller version of his brother when he was born.

Sooooooo glad I didn't listen to her and go home, OH would have been delivering him in the car!!

Had a physiological 3rd stage that lasted 16mins and a 1 degree tear but no stitches. Was home for midnight!

Xx
