Preparing for first baby - has anyone found a really comprehensive "baby needs" list?

My problem with lists is they say you need so many sleepers, so many onesies, so many sleep sacs etc...but they don't say how many for each stage baby will be at over the first 6 months, first year etc...One list said "8 sleepers". Is this 8 newborn size sleepers? I'm so confused!

I've never heard of anything saying you need that many of anything. I would just purchase what you think would be good. We have a ton of onesies for each size, up until a year. Haven't purchased too many for 18m+ yet.

Buy a few of everything up until about 6-9 months. By that time you will have an idea about how fast your baby is growing in and out of stages, and you can prepare for the older months then. That's what I plan on doing.

I think the best thing to do is make sure you have enough clothes for the first few weeks, I've bought all newborn, upto 1 month and a few 0-3 that way I know I'm covered until I am feeling upto going out and about and getting bigger things, I don't like buying too far ahead anyway because of season changes etc and my LO was never in the sizes he was supposed to be in,
As long as you have enough for the beginning I think you'll be fine, Internet shopping can be there the next day if youre in real need of something x
