What to wear in hospital after birth?

My insurance covers a 48 hour stay after a normal vaginal birth. I was wondering what is best to wear after my little man gets here.
I want to breast feed, so obviously something easy to get to breast is necessary. Most people suggest nursing gowns or nighties as the best, but I honestly HATE gowns. I will just wear the hospital provided gown while I'm laboring. My plan is to wear some of DH's comfy old button shirts (so baby can get to boob) and loose comfy pj pants. Does anyone think this will arouse any problems or make things more difficult for me? I'm def more comfy in pants, but if it's going to be more of a hassle I will go with a gown.

If you have stiches it is best to wear a night shirt but you don't have to i don't like night shirts at all so i will be taking in my pj's this time (black 1s) but i am not planing on staying in longer than 6 hrs.

Well remember you will be bleeding heavily right after birth. I would bring a gown just in case you change your mind.

thanks guys! I think I'm gonna bring my a gown and then pj pants. That way If I want pants on I can just slip then on under the gown. Lol, don't know why I didnt think of that before

i would go with night dresses (they might be what you mean by gowns). Take PJ bottoms if you want but you might need to change if you leak on them (with the bleeding).

If you need an emergency c section (hopefully u wont but noone plans for an emergency) then you wont want anything against the stitches as it will irritate it and might make it scar worse.

i have packed 2 pairs of black pj bottoms, and 2 of OH's old tshirts as theyre baggy and comfortable. I plan on breastfeeding, but did with DD too and managed just fine lifting my top although not as convenient.. but i dont get paid untill the day after DD's due date, so nursing tops are just going to have to wait. iv also packed a vest top with a low neckline (bought it a few months ago but the neckline was extremely low and i wasnt comfortable wearing it out) so i figured if the hospital ward is not warm enough i will pop that under OH's top, and can pull this down under my breast before lifting the larger top upwards, so my body wont get cold

i also have a nighty packed just incase of csection but dont plan to use it if not.

sounds like you have it plannedout well though

I've got leggings, and pj bottoms in my bag, that's what I took last time, as soon as I could walk around I had something on my legs, I never have my legs out I just feel uncomfortable so that wouldn't change in hospital, I've got a few vest tops and s hoody for the top bit and I do have one nightie for straight after section before I have catheter etc out

With dd, I wore nursing pj's the whole time. Some women got dressed but I'm a bit of a believer of if you're in/on bed, day clothes are a no no. I think most of the women who dressed were smokers tbh do kept going outside and in mid november they needed clothes! That's not to say I slobbed in pj's. I showered/changed every morning and fresh pants and bra morning and night.

I can't stand gowns either. I don't feel comfortable in them at all.

I've got myself some button shirts which I prefer to be in (and feel more comfortable in). I got them a few sizes bigger than what I go for usually. Also got myself some pj bottoms.

If I end up having a c-section then I will just wear the hospital gown.
