Sorry... another Clomid question.... but more about trigger shot.

Ok I am on my 3rd round of Clomid. My doctor prescribed me the first month 50 mg, then the second month he went to 100mg now this month he has gone back to 50 mg and he is doing an ultrasound in Thursday (CD 12 or 13 depending if you count spotting as CD 1) My questions is, when I go in on Thursday and I have good follicles, can I ask for a HCG trigger shot? Then if I can, what will happen and when do I need to get busy? I am just curious on how it all works. Thanks ladies!

Hey chica,

Done alot of research on this myself, although I haven't had the trigger shot myself I believe if at the scan and your follicles are a good size (20mm+) you can get a trigger shot which will make you ovulate within a 24hr period. So presuming.. if you dtd the day of the scan and the day after you'd pretty much have your bases covered. Good luck! x

I've had the trigger shot and they recommend dtd the day before and 2 days immediately following the shot. I used dtd the day of the shot too.

I just had my first trigger shot this cycle. I was told by my clinic that you should ovulate 24-36 hours after the shot. I triggered in the morning and went in the following morning for my IUI.

That afternoon I went ahead and POAS - just to see 2 lines!!

I've NEVER seen it before. Even though I knew it wasn't real, it was nice to see it.

I know... pathetic, but what can I say. This TTC thing makes you crazy.

Thank you all for your help. I am going to ask when I go in Thursday. I don't think I will test

right after, but hopefully it will something that I will be able to do ending in a sucessful pregnancy! Thanks again ladies!

I go Friday to have my follicles measured and if the Dr likes what he sees I will get an HcG shot also. He has told me and my husband to BD on Friday and then again 24 hrs later. I think we may BD on Wed night, too so that his sperm have a couple of days to be fresh and replenished.

Hi Ladies,

I am on my third attempt of IUI.

I had my HCG trigger shot on Sunday evening 6pm witha a dosage of 10,000 IU
Doctors expect it to work within 36-44 hours, IUI or

should be done around this time. In my case Tuesday morning.

It is a good idea to do an HPT test the following day to test the brand you are using so you will be familiar with what a good positive looks like and then test again 5DPO and every second day after that to ensure it is out of your system and you don't get a false positive. If you read my journal you will see my second attempt in December 2008 and how it was tested out of my system.

They say it takes 1 day for every 1,000 IU to get out of your system so roughly 10 days after your trigger if you get a positive it should be the real thing.

PS: Unfortunately so far this cycle it would seem my trigger shot has not worked, going for another scan today and a another IUI.
Nothing seems to be a guaranteed in this TTC game!

Thanks Debshopeful. I don't know if he will do the injection or not, but I think I am going to ask to see if he will. I have ovulated on my own and I have got pregnant 3 times but none were sticky beans.

So I hope that with the help of Clomid, injection, and Progesterone, we can have our healthy sticky bean. Good luck with your appt and I hope that we get our sticky
