Anyone's DH low sperm count normalize and you get your BFP?

I have been TTC for 8 months now and have teen children from my 1st marriage, my DH I think has a low sperm count (based on a home test that wasn't fullproof) maybe anywhere from 2-15 million and was wondering if you all out there in BNB land had/have the same problem still ended up with a BFP or if your DH's sperm increased to normal later? Could you tell me your stories as I don't know what to expect if this is indeed our problem (SA in a few weeks)..Thanks!

Just wait until you've had a proper SA done before you start worrying hun and even if you DO get a low result its still not the end of the world...

My DH got a poor result back in june/july and we were devastated but we fell preg naturally within a month!! so a bad result is not necessarily as bad as you might think iyswim?

Lots of luck to you xx

Hey hun, big difference between 2 and 15 million - they say 20 million is normal and a cold or illness can affect sperm count.

Go to the doc and get a sperm test or pay private (it's about £60 i think??).

Our first test was only 1 million, the last one in June had risen to 8 - it gets better with each test and you never know - maybe the elusive will be ours before IVF comes!

In the meantime get your hubby on vitamins, loose pants, no hot baths and cut down on alcohol and long distance cycling!! 3 months for sperm to mature and you could be on to a winner! good luck x

hi....my DH has been using fertile aid for a mth now too....his sperm result that he had done bout 2 mths ago was 17 million.....his doctor said that was fine...since seeeing the specialist she said it isnt ok & to take vitamins...hoping the fertile aid does the trick...think his motility or what ever its called was 60%...no idea what this means!....we didnt really ask when we saw specialist as we went in thinking we couldnt conceive because of me ( i have polycysts on only ovary) & came out after being told i am ovulating so its him not me!! so confusing!!!

xx

Just remember it takes 70-90 days for sperm to mature so it can take that long to show improvement

Yes, thanks everyone.....wonder how many "low sperm counts" are true low sperm counts and not a temporary thing? I keep reading how so many men go from 1 mil or 10 mil to normal after a few months and how some men have zero to normal and eventually they get their BFPs...wondering about 'true" MFI vs. a temporary problem that docs love to label as near hopeless....I have yet to read where a couples only prob is their DH 's sperm (when no medical reason is found) and they fail to eventually get pregnant. Rare....hmmmm
Any thoughts?

Hmm... think in some cases probably true. My DH was on meds and low count wasn't listed as a side effect BUT motility/morphology was along with abnormalities to the chromosomes in male babies.... we weren't aware of that until after the first SA. It's allegedly got a 3 week half life.... apparently not since it's been 14 months and it's still taking it's time to rectify!
