advice on Clomid please

Evening all, firstly apologies if i have posted this in totally the wrong place but im looking for some words of wisdom. I did post this in the TTC forums but want to see if i get any response from anyone here.

Well my name is laura, im 23 and me and my partner who is 24 have been TTC for over two years. I have very mild PCO with out all the symptoms, weight issues ect and i ovulate on my own with a 28-31 days cycle. Finally i have been prescibed Clomid which i will start taking on the 9th of this month after AF has arrived.

I know i am putting my hopes on the Clomid being success ful and hoping i get my BFP next month. Its heart breaking when AF arrives each month and when the GP gave me the Clomid last week i nearly broke down in tears as finally some one was doing something to help me instead of just sending me for blood tests and all different types of procedures.

So can anyone tell me if they had any success on the first cycle of Clomide and what dosage where you on.

Any info is very much appreciated.

Many thanks and best wishes. xx

Hey there.
I'm glad you have a good gp. Those are always great to have. When it comes to the tests, you really should have your tubes tested to see if they are closed. Because if they are, taking the clomid will be in vein. fX they are open for you though!

Okay, as for the clomid, I had one tube opened and took 100mg of clomid and had the triggers and got my BFP 12 days later. Sadly I lost my baby. I am now back on the clomid 50mg with no triggers and this will be my second month with it. Every woman is different, but I did get a BFP my first cycle. I think having tons of PMA really helped though. So stay possitive and work with your gp. I hope everything works out for you hun!

hi i havent got any success stories sorry but didnt wanna read & run! Im currently on my 2nd cycle of clomid, 50mg days 2-6 & trying ( but its very hard!!) not to feel too positive about the clomid....last mth when i came on i was heartbroken as i really thought clomid would be the answer.....i had all my follicular scanning and was told the follicules were a good size & i had ovulated fine....so to come on was such a blow . I have heard of so many success stories on clomid tho so i do still have my fingers crossed that i will get a BFP on the 23rd/24th dec when im due on

Good luck xx

I think so many women think clomids function is to give a BFP. Its not. Its to make you ovulate, and the rest is up to the sperm meeting this egg. Obviously the by product of the is a BFP, but your odds of falling pregnant in any one cycle depending on other factors affecting your fertility is about 40%

Dont worry if you dont get a BFP the first cycle, just keep going and dont get disheartened. XX

thanks for your responses ladies.

mamma2be i has a HSG in november last year and my tubes were perfectly fine. I havehad the day 21 bloods done and i do ovulate and this month i ovulated on CD13.

Im the same just expecting the clomid to work straight away. Im so sorry for your loss. I have read many stoires where woman on clomide have miscarried their first which is a really really scarey thought. I really do hope it happens for you again soon.

Im hoping im still in with a chance this month as AF is due on the 8th but not holding my breath after TTC for over 2 years. I really think i just dont have mature enough eggs.

x

hey huni, i just like you mild pcos with no symtons wot so ever!!
I have been ttc for 16months now and only 11 cycles due to irregular cycles not sure if its the pcos or just the long affect of being on bc for 12years
However I too have had the hsg all tubes clear and a lovley womb as the nurse said!! lol

I am starting my first clomid 50mg tomoz cd2 ..
Not sure wot to expect but i have been waiting for a while to start this clomid so im quite looking forward to actually feeling like I am now slowly getting something to help me ovulate..

Good luck hun xx

Hi Beauty, Looks like we are in the same boat.
I cant wait to start the clomid. I think im hoping for a miracle by expecting it to work straight away but i cant help but feel hopeful when really there is no major medical reason for me not to get pregnant.

I hope it works first time for you. Keep me update and let me know how you get on if you dont mind. What dosage are you on? Ill be taking 50mg for CD2-6. so excited.

Hey huni, i feel just the same its taken me 16months to actually get clomid knowing something was'nt right with me so i am actually lookin forward in taking it, even if it helps regulate my cycles.. like i said unsure if thats due to the pcos or the long use of birth control!

I mean my pcos is mild, and my periods range from cd35 to cd65 being the longest i couldnt believe it was cd35 this cycle i really thought i be waiting till the new yr to start the clomid going off my cycles so thats one good thing i can start it tomoz!!

I am taking 50mg cd2 to cd6 i am having no scans just cd21 blood tests and if no ovulation then gotta actually up my dosage depending on gyno advice!!

I actually knew i ovulated this cycle, first time since coming off the pill 16months ago, as i had EWCM i thought to myself, maybe its my mind playing tricks i will see what period comes in like and long behold it was on time from when i had EWCM (so a good thing is i know i do ovulate) even if its not regular!
Just hoping a sniff of clomid gets my eggs in producing healthy eggs so it gives me and oh a better chance of timing sex!

As with cycles like cd65 i have no idea when i ovulate even if i did at all on my long cycles!!

Keep me posted huni how u get on? Are you having scan or just cd21 blood tests?
xxxx

Im not being monitored on it at all which is weird.

I have regular cycles. 28-31 days. I ovulate every month around day 13-15 as i do OPKs i know when i ovulate. Im having no bloods or scans. She just gave me 3 months worth of 50mg and said if after 3 months it hasnt worked then to go back and they will up my dosage to 100mg. She said she doesnt think i will need to go back though. And that i may be eggs just arent mature enough and the clomid should sort that. All this is being done under my new GP, first time i saw her was a few weeks ago and she gave it me straight away., i was under my old GP and GYNO for 1 1/2 years and they done nothing but tests.

YEY on the shoirt cycle last month to. I can imaging that was a huge relief not having to wait so long to start the meds. Have you read the success rate on twins. I would love twins but at this rate would be over the moon with one.

xx
