Hi everyone, im new to this site and just thought i would share my story so far.
im 29 yrs old and my DH is 35. Weve been together for 12 years and have not been using contraception for the past 11 years! I was pregnant to my ex boyfriend when i was 17 which resulted in a miscarriage!
When i got with my DH i was desperate for a baby and we tried loads but no luck!
I went to my drs and they did a test on day 14 of my cycle which came back ok so i thought whatever problem there was must be my DH. He wouldnt go to the docs, maybe male pride? So we just continued on with me doubting it would ever happen! Certain in my mind that the problem lay with him and i totally went off BDing and for the past few years weve only done it once or twice a month!
A few months ago i bought a male and female fertillity test called fertell which had a test for both of us, so imagine my surprise when hubbys came back normal! And mines was normal too!!!
After all those years believing he must be the problem!!!
Now ive found this site and have found some hope! Maybe we have just not been BDing at the right time? Could it be possible to have missed the right time over 11yrs??
Id never heard of CM and BBT etc before and i am certainly going to properly ttc!!! After all this time i hope it is possible and im sure i will now become a regular on this site!!
Welcome you! How frustrating everything seems normal. I dont know how reliable these tests are tho so I would recommend getting checked out properly. Whatever you decide to do, this site is great it has been a great help to me throughout our tests etc and no doubt Ill rely on it even more when we have our ICSI next year. Glad to have u aboard!
Love Aphro x
hi and thankyou
it means alot to have support and know others understand what im going through!
Im going to try OPKs BBT charting and keeping an eye on that CM lol for 3 months and if nothing happens still i will be marching DH along to the Doctors with me!!! Im not getting any younger and i so want a baby now!
I wish you all the best on your journey to motherhood too xx
Welcome to the site.
I would definately try OPK's. Try and pinpoint what day of your cycle you ovualte on, and then try every other day, starting a few days before you ovulate and continuing until day 20 of your cycle.
Day 14 bloods usually indicate whether you are ovulating or not, but there's lots of other tests they can to. I had an HSG where they put dye into your uterus and tubes to see of they're clear and normal. I also had some other blood tests too. Just because the day 14 bloods were ok it doesn't mean there isn't another type of problem. I think fertell measures egg reserve, if I remember rightly, so will tell you that your not menopausal, but thats it. Other tests can rule out blocked tubes, polycystic ovaries, and other stuff.
I'd both go to the GP and get all the tests then you'll know what you are dealing with. good luck x
thanks caline. I know there are many problems that we might have but because ive never tried opk bbt ing checking cm etc i think i will give it a go for a few months and fingers xd who knws? We might be lucky, if not, at least i will know my body better and be armed with more info for the docs, good luck to you all xx
Jelliebabie how utterly frustrating for you hun! Definatley give opks and bbt a go. It could just be that your cycle needs a bit of tweaking! BBT will show you if there is something going a miss in that department and if you do find out there is a problem you are already armed and dangerous when you go see a doc! It may just be a case of a luteal phase defect or even still there could be a progesterone problem since the bloods would not have been accurate not knwing exactly when you ovulated. There is masses of hope for you still yet hun! Pm me anytme if you need any help with charting etc I will be only too happy to help you out!
Hun hope your journey from here is a short one but like some of the other girls said - there is still much hope for you - but i would def go to see a doc - I know we were ntnp (using no protection for 10 years) then ttc for 3 - (docs consider it 13 years infertility) --------- we found out I have blocked tubes. Don't wait any longer - make an appt.
Hi I also got my DH to do one of those tests and it said normal..... But they can't give any indication on morphology - and that's what turned out to be the problem.
I hope you get your BFP very soon xx
hi again and thanks girls. What is the morphology? I know the test is for motility and count. If its the morphology can it be fixed easily? Im kind of in limbo just now because we dont know what we are dealing with. over the past 6 or 7 years we have not had sex regularly because i kind of thought whats the point? I will go to the docs for definate if my 3 months tcc fails xxx
I think some people have improved their morphology, we went down the IVF route because I didn't want to wait any longer.
I think giving it 3 months is an excellent idea. Have lots of sex! and good luck
