Anyone know how to improve it? i know about the vits but my OH's 1st SA wasn't good count, motility but the orphology was 5% but he wasn't taking any vits, but then he started on the serlium with zinc for 3 months and his 2nd SA, everything else is good, apart from the morphology was 3% he smokes and drinks, he was drinking every night but has now cut down to every other night.. still not great but that's all i can get him to do.
At least he has cut down on his drink and I am sure he will do more with time. Try not to stress about these things too much since it will cause fights or you will feel resentful. My DH had a morphology of 3% at one test with low motility as well but good count. I had him take multi vitamin with zinc, Vitamin C 1000mg, Vitamin E 400IU and Grapeseed extract. At his next SA after some 2 months, his morphology was 11%.
I found information on those vitamins on the following forum and I am posting the thread related to morphology.
My OH had morphology at 8% on the last 2 SA and my accupuncturist told me to make sure he doesnt keep mobile phone in pocket or laptops on lap as this may affect morphology.
Remember that new sperm take 90 days/3 months to be produced so you might not see any effect from diet/lifestyle changes until then. We have been asked to do a 3r SA in 3 months to see if there is any improvement.
I also found this website useful for advice on vitamins to improve fertility.
My Dh told vits, ate fish, no drink at all, doesn't smoke etc never has and after first sample his was 2% after 6 days of abstinence and then the next 3 months followed the advice and after 3 days abstinence got 5% so no great improvement really. Our clinic told us there's nothing that improves morphology really just good diet to improve count and then that boosts our chances. Even after all that food and vit, the count for us actually halved and went down! Ugh! So hard to know what to do, leave sample too long and morphology seems to get worse but count better or leave it shorted and morphology is better but count was WAY worse. His motility improved by 15% due to vits and diet tho xx
Hi Jem, its hard.. my partner also has low morphology (10%)- and smokes, though not a great deal, but still he does. Perhaps say 5 a day? Its hard not to feel resentful about it though when they don't want to quit but you think its the thing that stands between you and falling pregnant naturally... Grrr.. really hard. I've ordered some vitamins- the FertilAid for men- we'll see how it goes, but at the moment- I'm feeling DOWN. I hope your hubby listens to the FS! I wonder if there are any of us out there that have had partners with low morph, they've quit and its improved?
He had quit for 8 months before his 1st SA and it was 5% but everything else was low but he was nervous and he just rushed it and his sample wasn't that great to start off with, but his 2nd he'd started smoking again few months before & he wasn't nervous and everything else was good apart from morph which was 3% so i'm hoping the FS will tell him that he NEEDs to quit and we both kno he can quit.
My OH has low morphology. He hasn't smoked for over 10 years, is very active and eats very healthily. The only thing that could be an issue was his drinking, not massive but certainly over the recommended weekly limit. After the results of his first SA which also indicated a lowish count, he has cut down and now is probably about the recommended limit. His second SA showed a much improved count and a slight improvement with morphology from 4% to 6%. He has also been taking fertilaid, but we think that it is his reduction in alcohol that is making the difference.
