Procesa from gp to getting referred ?!

Hi

Just thought I'd share my process so far, incase anyone is wandering what happens next and also to see if anyones process has been different ?and also there isn't anything to compare it too do how do you know what should happen or if you have been giving wrong advice ?!

I live in Kent and have been ttc for 15 months, went to doc after 1 yr as he wouldn't help us any sooner, had sa and bloods arranged with one doc who then said we now get referred....however he left the surgery and our new doc said I had to have a pelvic scan before referral ?

Anyway scan revealed polycystic ovaries, now being referred,

Although have only waited 4 weeks for the app that's only could it's on the choose and book system and you could ring up daily ( which I did ! )
to see if any cancellations which there were

In the paperwork I got for my referral states I will have bloods, dh sa and then hsg, do basically apart from the hsg what I've already had !

Not sure to see it as a good thing that hopefully the fs can just look up the results or a bad thing, ie if we got referred straight away ie before the pelvic scan ( as waited 7 wks for that ) then may have got referral sooner
also think they will send me for more bloods and another sa
so just feel a bit annoyed.

Think I'm just impatient and hubbu says I want things yesterday !
Just feel like no one has sat down and explained what will happen next etc

It has taken approx 3 months since I saw gp initially to my referral which is a gynocologist, is that what other people have been referred to ?

Please help !

Well I live in Lanarkshire and so far it has went as follows:

Seen doc in Julg who said we had to have CD21 and SA.

Doc advised you just turn on certain days with SA but this was wrong info and appointment required.

So after 2 attempts of following docs instructions OH had to then make app which delayed things and finally handed in SA in Sept.

In meantime I had CD21 test done which showed no OV do had to get another done.

Seen doc at end of Sept but SA results not in but my 2nd CD21 were in and confirmed I OV'd. In meantime doc advised would refer us to FS but app would take a few months to come through. Hubby called back for results week later and they were in but needed doctor to give result so had to wait few days for telephone app.

SA results not normal but doctor didn't explain how exactly not so hubby required to get bloods. Back next Weds at docs and I am gonna go too to find out exact SA and bloods results.

It is looking likely it will take upto 6 months from first seeing doc to getting app with gynae.

However, having read numerous posts on here I was kinda prepared for being messed about/waiting : (

Hi Debbie

well it seems like your story is similar to mine, just seems lots waiting around and waiting ! Worst thing for me is 10 days after my scan my doc rang said results fine, then 7 days after that he called me saying he mis read them and I had polycystic ovaries but was as calm as day saying don't worry, it's not the syndrome and you can still get pregnant etc, well how does he know that ?!

I'm hoping when I see my fs I will feel better and know what's happening !

Hi kayley

Well I did think it was quite long but don't suppose there's a lot he can do now even if I call him, cause I have had quite a few tests already and I do have my gyno app this month, so guess I will just have to wait and see what they say, like you say they will prob send me for more tests etc,
how are you getting on ? What's next for you now ?

X

Hiya, we only went for our first GP appnt last Wednesday. We've been ttc 13 months.

I already had extensive tests done and know I have PCOS. But hubby not had a SA yet.

The GP said he'll send us the letter describing the referral process and the list of all tests we need to have done before the referral.

From reading your posts ladies it seems like it's just the SA for us as I already had scans and blood work done.

I live in Sussex and I've heard south east doea have some long waiting times

It is so frustrating but it is just one of many waiting lists need to overcome. TO be honest when it comes to fertility i am not going to take my GP's word as gospel as it is the fertility specialist who is the expert in the field and is much more qulified to interpret result etc x
