Do I belong here?

Hi

I am new to this forum and dont quote know where to put myself.
I am 23 years old and have been TTC since September 2008 (so 2 years 4 months). Do I belong here or in the TTC forum?
I have had no fertility tests yet and neither has my partner as we are both terrified we are going to be told something we dont want to hear. Havent even been near a doctor since I had my implant out in August 2008.
I have normal periods (between 26 and 30 day cycles that last for about 5-7 days, is this normal?) and I think I ovulate because my ovulation monitor tells every month at around day 14, but I dont know how accurate these are. I have used pre seed on and off for a year now and have tried supplements.
Me and my partner were not going to get married yet, as we wanted children first (we were childhood sweethearts, met at 13 and been inseparable ever since) but as its taken a while (i thought it would happen in the first 6 months or so with us both being 21) we have booked our wedding for April. We have lived together 4 years and both work our butts off full time to keep our house going and to live a nice comfortable life.
The one thing missing is the one obvious thing.
I have 2 cats, who i treat like my children (OH bought them for me to cheer me up after the 1 year of TTC and then 2... but Ive told him if it gets to 3, no more kittens!!)
Just wanted to introduce myself really and say hi and make sure I have come to the right section.
Also any suggestions of what I can do/try would also be good. Also I have got to grips with some of the terminology but I still dont get some... like what is CLOMID and HSG and PCOS??? Please dont think Im stooooopid
I look forward to your replies

Charlz.x

Hey! and welcome, you are welcome in all sections you feel you fit! Ive been ttc for a loooooong time - 9 years, due to problems from ectopics and my tubes, however i also flit around in ttc and tww, assisted conception amongst others (i expect all the ttc'ers think im a deluded nutter - not too mention those in tww!) x

There is lots of support and lovely ladies here - feel free to ask anything you like - no one will think you're stupid - we have all got different experiences/journeys - some of us know more than our consultants lol! (although i just think i do!!)

btw clomid is a drug used to make you ovulate - if you ovulate you wont be needing this!!
HSG - is a medical procedure used to see inside your tubes - they flush a liquid through whilst watching to see if there are blockages (didnt explain this very well) - Please someone correct me if im wrong!! I had one last year tho lol!
PCOS is polycystic ovary syndrome - causes probs ttc - symptoms include being overweight, excess hair, irregular periods oh and cysts on ovaries! - I dont have this myself and am sure that someone will correct me if these symptoms are wrong!

Hope i may have helped a little - ask us anything and you are very welcome here xx

Hi Hun
Thanks for the kind welcome and the explanations, I am sure I will get used to it.
9 years is an awful long time, Im going barmy after just over 2 years!
Its horrid because in the 2 years that I have been TTC I havent even had a BFP not once. Im scared of going to doctors, Im afraid they will judge because I am only 23 and not married and not be as helpful. Also will they believe me? Another thing is me and my hubby 2 b have different doctors. Is this normally a big issue?
Sorry for all the questions, I have so much to ask and no one to talk to, as NO ONE knows we are TTC!!!

hey -
Are you in the uk? can only speak from uk experience but dont be scared of going to docs - you are in a long term stable relationship so this is what matters to them, and yes they will believe you! Cant see you and DF (dear fiancee) having diff docs will be a prob. They usually start by doing blood tests day 3and 21 of your cycle to see if you are ovulating and then an ultrasound to see how all ur bits look ;-)
DF will be asked for a sperm cycle - hee hee, this is good fun if you live far away from the hosp it brings another meaning to the words 'great sperm race'
This will give them a better picture of where to go x
I've gone barmy several times over lol - but im 'only' 29 so time is on my side - and yours! Ive been with my hubby since i was 13 too - lost one tube due to a cyst (it was huge!!) and then damaged remaining tube with an ectopic - so i am pretty clear on my issues - although it is poss to conceive naturally (just) so we are still trying but am soon to begin ivf. Which is why i lurk everywhere!!

xx

Thanks chicken
I am in the UK in the North (if this makes a difference)
And oh no... I do live a fair enough distance from hosp. I really wanna know if there is something wrong with me or DF (thanks for that ) but I just dont wanna hear those words said. It is hard to speak to him too because he is so emotional, I never want to upset him, its always me putting on the happy face (although this is just the kind of person I am!)
See I dont know any of my insides at all, just that we BD as often as poss and at the right time (around OV) and that my periods seem to be in order (not irregular)
Thanks for letting me know docs procedure, I least I know what Im in for... just gotta pluck up the courage. (I know it sounds daft, but I get mistaken for a school kid ALL the time, i even got asked for proof of age for a lottery ticket the other day... how rude!! and I think that the doctors will forget Im 23 and not 15!!)

haha - i got id'd when i was buying a NAIL FILE in matalan at xmas - NAIL FILE i tell you!! idiots!
To get to know ur body better try ovulation testing - proper cheap on ebay - i never ov when i think i do! There may well not be anything wrong with either of you - it may be bad timing or something super simple! Do you get ewcm (egg white cervical mucus ;-)) ?
There are lots of things you can do on the sly to help hubbys sperm chances too lol - google foods etc, dont let him have boiling hot baths/wear speedos ~:-)

Also, do you have an iphone/pod? there are LOADS of apps to help track fertility! period tracker/pink pad are great x

I totally understand your 'one thing missing' point - we have also worked hard for career, house etc, and i have two extremely mollycoddled springer spaniels - only a baby to go!!

Welcome to LTTTC mrsrouse2b, I have found out so much from the forums on here and have found all the girls very welcoming. It's nice being able to 'talk' to others who know how you are feeling. Even if you have a supportive OH (other half) its nice to speak to other women! I also live in the north (Yorkshire) and there hasn't been a problem with me and my OH having different doctors. Don't worry about speaking to your GP but don't be fobbed off by them. If you have a good GP they will listen and tell you what the next steps are. Good Luck xx

Thanks guys, I got a load of those sticks off amazon, a colleague was talking about them and i sneakily took a mental note....
I ov on day 14/15 every month really strong positive line. I dont think I get EWCM, but havent really taken that much notice. I have only ever done a preg test (dont know letters for this, lol) a few times as I have only ever been late twice, and that was only a few days. Its too depressing, but every month (like now as my af is due on thurs) i always think i have symptoms but obv just af symptoms. Twinges, sore boobs, headache, nausea.... I guess most of you ladies are the same.
Thanks for your help so far ladies, really encouraging

Hi and welcome

You might find this link useful - it's got all the abbreviations (I still have to check the odd one out myself lol)

http://www.babyandbump.com/forum-hel...eviations.html

I really would encourage you to go to the Dr's - a good Dr wont fob you off and even if there is something 'wrong' with one of you that stopping you getting pregnant, it really could be something easy to sort out

I know it's hard to think like this, but 'if' there is something that needs sorting out, ignoring it wont help.

I really hope this doesn't come across as me being dismissive - I'm really not being - I just wish I'd managed to persuade OH to come to the Dr's with me sooner, as it might have given us a bit more time to play with when we did find a problem (I'm 36 now)

Wishing you all the best hun and keep us posted xx
