FS appointment after HSG - being referred to IVF - what to do next?

Hello everyone, I went to my FS appointment last week and was told that everything was fine with both DH and I. So I suppose I have unexplained infertility. She said the best way around this is IVF.

In Northern Ireland the waiting list for IVF is 12 months at least. So what to I do in the meantime? Of course, I will still try as I would love to go naturally but is anyone else waiting on IVF.

My FS also did not suggest Clomid with me. I was expecting her to do so and I didn't mention it. But I thought this was the next step.

Hiya Hun

We too are unexplained-how long have you been ttc?

We have had 3 months clomid but it made me feel awful/hasnt worked so back at FS on 21st April to see what next step is. I have also been told that IVF is best for unexplained. I am hoping they will put us on the waiting list and if it is a while, they will let us have a private round in the mean time.

Did they discuss IUI with you? I think they may want us to try this first but I am reluctant as I dont think the sucess rates are v good and I dont want to waste another cycle x

Thanks manchester...I know at the end of the day that keep trying is all we can do and I guess that is all we will do. It just seems a hell of a long wait! Grrr!

Kitty, we have been trying for 2 yrs 4 mths but according to FS it is over 3 years. Technically it has been 5 and half years as I came of the bcp then and we actively started trying 2.4 years ago. How long have you been trying?

No, she didn't mention IUI either which is a bit frustrating that she has only given me one option to fall pg. I don't know if it is just the NHS in Northern Ireland.
