metformin for pcos and weight loss

My f/s told me to go on a no carb diet which i have been strickly following for the last 3 n half weeks plus 30 mins exercise a day which i have also done and i have been losing weight nicley, I think its amazing, I tried to lose weight before with diet and exercise but it never seemed to work no matter how hard i tried.
But anyway back to what i was asking, Any ladies who have had/ are on metformin just wondering how much weight you have lost and in what time frame? and will it slow down after the first few months?

Hey huni, i found the same, i started taking met last feb and have lost 2 and a half stone! I lost the first stone relatively easily but it has slowed down a little since then!

Good luck and well done on losing weight so far x

Hi I have PCOS too and low carb is the only thing that's ever worked for me to lose weight. My doctor wants to put me on met on monday and I'm scared of the side effects or what other things it could do to my body. Does it really help you lose weight??

hiya i have only been on it for just under 4 weeks and i have lost around 5lb so far, not alot but before i had the met i couldn't even budge a 1lb of weight, it's hard to get used to not eating carbs especially if your like me and love potatoes/pasta! but its worth it and if you follow the rules with the no carbs you wont get any bad side effects and do a bit of exercise everyday u will lose weight, as to how much you lose is probably down to how much u way in the first place. My f/s wanted me to lose 9lb before i have my op which she said was a four month waiting list so i am already half way there and only 1 month down x

Ohh thanks that's really helpful. Can I ask how tall you are how much you weigh? I'm 5'9 and about 155lb. I was about 139lb when I concieved my son so I think I probably could aim to loose 16lb oh my gosh that sounds like heaps I've been trying to avoid working it out!! haha x

when they weighed and measured me at the hospital i was 166cm/12st2 which i think is 5.5/170lb give or take a little (not good at converting lol) i could really do with losing 2 stone but i'm glad the f/s only asked me to lose 9lb because that is alot more realistic to me, but if these tablets keep working how they are then this time next year i might be down to what i want x
