Metformin :(

I started taking Metformin (1500 mg all at once) last night and four hours later it made me vomit and my stomach bubbled all morning. I've been googling this drug and I had no idea it made people feel so horrible. My doctor only told me it would upset my stomach. I haven't had any other stomach problems so far. The problem is....now I have anxiety when I even think about taking this medication. I am not looking forward to having diarrhea every day all day. It's making me depressed because I'm rethinking taking it. I made a vow to take and do whatever it takes to get pregnant but I just CAN'T be ill every day right now. I can handle being sick but I am in the process of starting a new job, among other things. I didn't take it tonight because I might have to work tomorrow. I've heard so many bad things about this medication I'm wondering if the good really outweighs the bad. What if the side effects never go away? Is there any other medicine my doctor can prescribe to make me ovulate?

Your side effects will go away. I am on 2000mg of extended release. Try taking one pill in the morning with breakfast and then two with supper. Or work your way up taking one pill a day for a few days with food and then two pills for a few days until you are taking your full dose. I promise that the side effects will go away it can take a couple weeks though and I do think it is worth it. good luck

I also started Metformin 1500mg all at once. I had cramps, nausea, and diarrhea. When I was at work I was practically in the restroom all day. But it will subside I promise. What works for me is taking one tablet in the morning and two at bedtime. Also limit your carb and sugar intake, that will only cause more side effects. I ovulated my first month of taking metformin. Wish you the best of luck, metformin can cause many side effects I am just hoping it will be worth it in the end.

The side effects definately do go away. You don't have to take met but it does help alot of women with PCOS ovulate. Losing weight can be as effective though.

I think I'm going to try taking one in the morning and two at night. I've been waiting on the dreaded diarrhea side effect but I guess that one's not for me. I'm just throwing up and feeling gassy four to five hours after taking them. I feel horrible right now.
