Yes, the first day of your period is cd1. Do you chart temps or use opks?

Ok, that's fine, but I think you might have accidentally posted on the wrong forum. This is for those who have been trying to conceive for a long time. You might find the ttc board more appropriate for you.

Hi millianaire, the first day that you experience either bright red blood or lots of blood (not just spotting) is CD1.

It really helps to chart your BBT as you will be able to confirm when you ovulate and then you will start to see a pattern and make sure you bed on the right days. If you don't want to deal with the hassle of charting you could always invest in a clear blue fertility monitor

Sorry Millianare, I read your post as though it were your first month of trying to conceive, not that it was your first month of charting.

Millianaire, even if you don't want to chart your temps you should at least be looking out for the change in cervical mucus. It should be a watery/wet feeling, or like raw eggwhite, very stretchy...this is the best. This way you know when you're fertile and when to bd, and at least charting that will give you a heads up as to about the time you O every month. The monitors can be pricey so if you don't want to go that route, you could always use opks which will tell you when you are surging and you should O within 24-36 hours. But the monitor and the opks don't tell you that you actually did O, which is why a lot of people chart their temps.
